Kuyt doesn't score goals because he's played deep - almost if this is the right phrase - as a defensive forward/advanced midfielder. He's underrated by people on here, we miss his committment when he's not in the team. Personally I think he's the best partner for torres.

I am waiting to make the 1,000th post on this thread so pls keep up the momentum!!!The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. I honestly don't think this is the case at all.Originally posted by Tom View PostI said "defensive forward" as a description of how he his used tactically.
A lot of teams use a player in that exact position, in the hole, old fashioned number 10 etc, only you won't hear them describe said player as a "defensive forward" as an excuse for that player not being able to hurt the opposition.
Bottom line is that he's a forward, yes they have to work hard, all players in every position do, but if you play up front you have to be threat to the opposition, either by scoring and creating. And I'm sorry but if anyone honestly believes that Kuyt does enough of either, or that he's even capable of doing so, then they're deluded quite frankly.
Calling Kuyt a defensive forward is laughable and quite frankly the last bastion of straw clutching.I hate Polanski

Whatever description you place on Kuyt's position, one fact doesn't alter, he doesn't score or create enough goals. He has attributes, most notably, hard work but at the top level thats not enough, in fact nowhere enough. Kuyt lacks pace, isn't particulary good in the air and isn't clinical enough in front of goal. In a nutshell ...not good enough.AKA Heighway No9

I've just watched yesterdays game again and Kuyt found himself in good positions and had a number of decent efforts on goal only to be blocked ala nearly every one of ours yesterday.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostI honestly don't think this is the case at all.

Also he laid on decent passes in quite a few of our moves watch again and you'll see.

Well said Paul mate.Originally posted by paulcooper4 View Postcorrect.
A blind man can see that kuyt, voronin AND crouch for various reasons have not done enough to warrant a long term future at this club.
Just dont see the point in the constant slagging of them from some on here though.
Rafa is not daft and will get rid of players not good enough when its best for the club. Hes proved that time and again. He wont get rid just for the sake of it, only if he has a genuinely better option to come in (which may not be possible in january).
A good few reds on here need to realise that while these players are still at the club they are probably gonna give us more with a bit of support (no matter how much you dont like them)
Threads slagging kuyt in a match when hes actually played well are helping no-one.

Well I will tell you that you are wrong. If Van Batsen, the Dutch coach, can put him in the team ahead of Huntelaar, then it means you are talking out of your "whatsit".Originally posted by pezzzer View Postwould kuyt (with his one goal) get in to chavs/mancs/arse side? err no. even with lasts years mediocre performances still no. so if we are SERIOUS about winning the prem out the sloth and bring in some proper quality.

Please can we just get down to the facts? Go and watch that match again and comeback and tell me if he was not one of our best two players yesterday.
His form last year was good. I think he even scored more goals than Stevie last year. The guy is going through a slum in his form coupled with the fact that he lost his father who has been sick for years. Doesn't any of you get it?
Torres was **** yesterday. I have not seen any of you so called "analyst" calling for his head. "Kuyt is not good enough to wear the shirt". Our famous anthem say YNWA. The guy needs support not the crap that you are all spitting out here. This is getting pathetic! You will think the guy score 5 own goals against his team!!!The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. I sympathise with Kuyt re his father and that he may be currently off form. But, at the end of the day he hasn't delivered - simple as. I admit people picking on Kuyt as a scapegoat yesterday is wrong - Torres was equally as ****. Fact remains though that Torres usually does it week in week out, and with him we have a real goal threat. Sadly Kuyt doesn't posses a goal threat - **** knows why, when his ratio on Holland was better than 1 in 2.

oh yeah, i forgot about all the dutch talent that he has to choose from!!. i'm not blameing kuyt for yesterdays game as there were lots of bad performances but kuyt has no eye for goal and no pace, end of.Originally posted by John_Gotti View PostWell I will tell you that you are wrong.
