I've gone for Roy Evans - seemed like a really nice guy (not TOO nice, despite what some say!) and I felt so sorry for him having to work with houllier when it was obvious that he was slowly being pushed aside. I'll never forget his farewell conference with tears rolling down his face.
He didn't have a lot of money to spend during his reign, hadn't managed a club before and was given the monumental task of restoring us to our former glory. Despite the pressure and inheriting a shoddy/ageing squad he managed to get us 2 x 3rd place finishes and 2 x 4th place finishes. Had the rule changes been made sooner, that would have been 4 years of CL football, extra revenue and who knows....that may have provided us with enough to win the league?! We've hardly been closer since he left.
He's one of the most criticised Liverpool managers yet he had a really good league record - it was never good enough yet these days would have been considered more than acceptable.
Our style of football under him was really good and some of our most exciting games came under his control. Complete contrast to some of the dross we had to watch under Houllier.
He got the best out of Fowler, introduced us to Owen and had it not been for injuries, would have been credited with "discovering" Gerrard.

For achievements and building foundations I'd go for Bob Paisley.

          A good man was Roy!

I voted for Kenny. I grew up in the 80s and his team of the late 80s were awesome.

I'm not old enough to remember Shankly or Paisley so voted for Kenny.

I've read and watched what they did and respect them but didn't live through it so voted for Dalglish.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

For me Paisley - played for us - 2nd in command for Shanks, wore slippers, liked a bet, true gent, told Rush is was on the transfer list to get him to play only to then tell him he was never on it when he decided to stay.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

have gone for the King. Was a bit too young to appreciate Paisley's teams or Fagans 85 team. If we were allowed to play in Europe the Kings teams would have whipped everyone. But domestically, his 87 team was just sublime and in Barnes, Beardo, Molby and Aldo some of the best we've ever had.

                      Shankly.

Just ask yourself what would this club be like today if he hadn't arrived in 59?

Have gone for Kenny. Only because Shanks and Paisley were a bit before my time.

Wanted to go with Kenny but he takes my favourite player award so I decided to go for Shanks in the managerial poll.
He was very much before my time but history has taught me he was the making of this great club

                            Uncle Bob!

Totally the opposite of Shanks, but as determined to win.

I just recently re-read his autobiography for about the 20th time. He was a very intelligent manger, ahead of his time I reckon.

Shame he'll never get his knighthood.

Just out of interest, were the 2 votes for Rafa serious? As for the uncle Roy choice...hilarious. I like Uncle Roy and I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as what some people made him out to be but the best LFC manager ever??

In my opinion only 3 managers deserve to be on this list, Shanks, Paisley and Kenny. After them it would have to be Fagan and Rafa. The others shouldn't even be mentioned...
