Phil Taylor, because in December 1959, he created an opportunity for the greatest dynasty football has seen - Shanks, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish. His words showed how much he loved his adopted club... "No matter how great has been the disappointment of the Directors at our failure to win our way back to the first division, it has not been greater then mine."

A special mention to Joe Fagan too, he's stint was short but he won vast amounts playing attractive football, am i right in saying he was the first in English football to do a treble? We come not to play.

Had to go for Paisley.
He was there when I started supporting Liverpool. There seemed to be a mystique about the club back then and Bob was the, slightly incongruous, front man who only spoke when he had something to say.
Shankley was before my time, so when I think of LFC - I think of Bob Paisley
Francis.
...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool
And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left
A defensive mid for £18m?

I agree - I only read about Paisley et al but KD's team of Barnes, Aldridge, Hansen, Whelan, Beardsley, Houghton and Aldrudge (to name a few) were incredible.Originally posted by bigfooty View PostI voted for Kenny. I grew up in the 80s and his team of the late 80s were awesome.

First manager in ages to be 'officially' sacked.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostI hate the way Houllier gets slagged off all the time.
Left the team with many donkeys and took a nice pay check with him.
I thank him for his treble, his work behind the scenes at Melwood, but he is just ahead of Souness with regards to the state he left the club in.We come not to play.

Yes but I think his illness played a big part in some of it and also, he genuinely loved/loves Liverpool FC and I think people should remember that.Originally posted by Frodo View PostFirst manager in ages to be 'officially' sacked.

He loved/loves Liverpool so did/does Souness but ultimately they failed.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostYes but I think his illness played a big part in some of it and also, he genuinely loved/loves Liverpool FC and I think people should remember that.
In hindsight He shouldn't have returned as manager after his illness, a director of football job should have been offered to him, had this happened he would have still been thought of as a messiah. We come not to play.
