The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. So??? Lots of us genuinely love liverpool but we didn't get paid a fortune to manage them and blew millions and millions on donkeys. The figures above speak for themselves - he was one of the least popular managers in our history and with very good reason.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostYes but I think his illness played a big part in some of it and also, he genuinely loved/loves Liverpool FC and I think people should remember that.

Hmm, i sometimes ponder that. This is why even though Rafa baffles me and sometimes pisses me off I look at how he got the likes of Traore, Smicer, Baros to perform on the grandest stage and win the biggest prize in club football and think the man s a genius.Originally posted by Reece View PostLets not forget that a lot of the "donkeys" that Houllier left us with helped us win the CL......
Also don't forget that team did have more then just a bit of rafa's fingerprints on it, Xabi and Garcia were the TWO key players along with Gerrard and Carra (who came through the system).
I personally would give Houllier very little credit for that victory (0.001%)We come not to play.

He won us the treble and that seems to be forgotten far too much.Originally posted by carheex View PostSo??? Apart from that 2000/2001 season we were absolutely dreadful. Even when we were winning we were dire to watch. You must remember when we beat barcelona 1-0 (Gary mac penalty from a kluivert handball?).....on both of those legs of that match we played 11 men behind the ball - it was embarassing and we stunk out europe all season with our performances except for the final. And even then we had to rely on an own goal after throwing a lead a away. Houllier was an awful man.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostHe won us the treble and that seems to be forgotten far too much.

In what way an awful man? That's just rubbish and having met him on 2 separate occasions I have to disagree. Whatever mistakes he made doesn't make him an awful man.Originally posted by carheex View PostApart from that 2000/2001 season we were absolutely dreadful. I'm too busy to get into a debate about it right now anyway - lets just say you liked him and I didn't?

Spot on, GH is certainly not a favourite of mine but thats due to the football played, and the players he bought and the sums of money wasted. We come not to play.
