Phil Taylor, because in December 1959, he created an opportunity for the greatest dynasty football has seen - Shanks, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish. His words showed how much he loved his adopted club... "No matter how great has been the disappointment of the Directors at our failure to win our way back to the first division, it has not been greater then mine."

Souness for bringing us all back to earth.
We just won too much, for the good of football.

A special mention to Joe Fagan too, he's stint was short but he won vast amounts playing attractive football, am i right in saying he was the first in English football to do a treble?

          Had to go for Paisley.

He was there when I started supporting Liverpool. There seemed to be a mystique about the club back then and Bob was the, slightly incongruous, front man who only spoke when he had something to say.

Shankley was before my time, so when I think of LFC - I think of Bob Paisley
          Francis.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

          A defensive mid for £18m?

As much as King Kenny is my all-time sporting hero it has to be Bob for manager. The best manager ever!!!!!

I agree - I only read about Paisley et al but KD's team of Barnes, Aldridge, Hansen, Whelan, Beardsley, Houghton and Aldrudge (to name a few) were incredible.

Yeah, he is the father of the modern LFC family.
                  It all started with him.

I voted Bob, but I think this makes most sense now on second thoughts.

I hate the way Houllier gets slagged off all the time.

First manager in ages to be 'officially' sacked.

Left the team with many donkeys and took a nice pay check with him.

I thank him for his treble, his work behind the scenes at Melwood, but he is just ahead of Souness with regards to the state he left the club in.

Yes but I think his illness played a big part in some of it and also, he genuinely loved/loves Liverpool FC and I think people should remember that.

He loved/loves Liverpool so did/does Souness but ultimately they failed.

In hindsight He shouldn't have returned as manager after his illness, a director of football job should have been offered to him, had this happened he would have still been thought of as a messiah.

Lets not forget that a lot of the "donkeys" that Houllier left us with helped us win the CL......
