Shocking really isn't it? 125 voters and not one person rates Houllier as their favourite. You'd think he'd get a few as for some people on this forum, he was probably the first manager to deliver any half decent silverware. Just goes to show what an arrogant fool he was I suppose. I'd love it if he could see this by the way.

What annoyed me most about him is that in his egomania-driven delusion he thought the fans actually approved of the dross he was serving up on the field of play, even though it was the most disheartening and soul-destroying stuff I've ever seen at Anfield.

At least people like Souness and Evans had the decency to walk when they realised they weren't up to it. Not Houllier though, not only did he have to be pushed he hung around like a bad smell even after he was told he wasn't wanted.

But I will always remember GH in a fond way. I know it sounds crazy, but I`m 26 and started going regularly to home and away games in 2001. Whatever happened to GH after that, I will never forget how good that treble season was.

I have actually - I am just pissed off at how we play football and the average players our team seems to be full of.

I want us to play a decent brand of football and replace the average players with youngsters.

Not too much to ask. It used to be massive to play for LFC now any clown gets a go.

Why?

As much as you may love Houllier and respect him (which I have no problem with btw as I can perfectly understand people will have a lot of fond memories of him) I will never forgive him for making me fall out of love with football and Liverpool in particular. I used to pay fortunes back in the day following Liverpool everywhere under Houllier when I was a student and could hardly afford it, and that dirge we had to put up with was completely unforgiveable IMO. Bad enough we played such ****e football, he spunked fortunes on poor players and tied Rafa's hands for years in the transfer market. I bet our huge debt, delays in stadium financing, difficulty in finding investors etc is at least in part attributable to the money Houllier tossed away without bringing in any notable success.

As for the treble, yes it was a great achievement, but for how much can Houllier take the credit? Owen singlehandedly won us the FA Cup, we beat 1st Division Birmingham on pens in the league cup final and then proceeded to get ripped apart and throw it all away against No One FC in the UEFA Final until they were reduced to 9 men and gifted us a golden og winner.

As for the following season when we finished second with an 80 points haul, Houllier wasn't even in charge for the majority of that season. We only got a run going once Houllier fell ill and do not underestimate the galvanising effect an event like a manager's incapacity can have on a team. He obviously rushed himself back as well, because he wanted to be at the helm when his team was "10 games from greatness"! But truth is as ruthlessly efficient as we were (1 chance, 1 goal Owen) we were vastly inferior to the Arsenal side that won the league that season, even if the difference was only 7 points.

Above all, it's his lack of dignity since leaving the club that has left a sour taste in my mouth. And if you don't know what I'm talkign about, have a read of Guillem Balague's book.

Something else that really annoys me is when people say "but houllier nearly died for the club"!! FFS, no he didn't! He fell ill at work and went home where he recuperated, just like anyone else would have done. The way some people go on about this you would think that he chose to risk his life!
