I agree reserve level doesn't mean that much but he's been head and shoulders above anyone and everyone each time I've seen him play in the reserves. His performances IMO warrants a few games in the 1st team and I am actually very hopeful for this kid.

Whether you like to admit it or not, as a human being (apparently), you DO form an instant/early impression. It's fact. It's life. Accept it. Get over it.

I'm also rationale enough not to trust to "pure instinct".

Trust it or not, you form an impression. And that's what i've done. Some people's impressions have been that he's good. Mine arent.

Stop being such a facist and accept a different viewpoint.

Are you telling those who's viewpoints have been positive to stop trusting their 'pure instinct'? Course not. Because they agree with you. And that's 'allowed'...

Bat all you like. I'm not here trying to change other people's opinions with 'but...' and 'if...'

You rate him. That's fine by me.

              I dont. Accept it.

                No the argument is this:

You believe you can form an opinion of a young player based on a very limited number of viewings. You trust your "instincts" on this.

I say, hold on a minute, you need to give kids a chance to develop, the past is littered with kids who didn't make it, also players that didn't start great but came through. We need to be patient.

Make you're own mind up as to what you think is the most sensible approach. cya, DJS i've enjoyed running rings round you

i agree that leto hasn't shown his true colors, he might never. but the other two, tell me they don't show signs of quality, thats bull.

**** it lets scrap our youth team all together, and lets just buy. no point in trying to scope the planet for extreme potential, lets just spen 20-30 million on every position, on experienced players. our youth system is crap anyways...

                    You're comically deluded...

There's no difference in our approaches, you just cant accept someone thinking differently to you.

I've not said he shouldnt get a chance, so that's clearly bollocks.

I havent seen anything to get excited about, you apparently have. That's all there is to it really. But you cant accept it.

It seems that running around forming rings has made you a little bit dizzy...and thrown you back into 1940s germany, to boot.

                    Auf Wiedersehen...

I take your point, but that is not always the case. £20m on one individual does not always guarantee you a player of Nando's class, and having £20m to spend certainly doesn't guarantee you availability on those kinds of players.

Teams are constructed through meticulous planning and preparation, you can't just consistently throw money at clubs and fill up the gaps. Man U and Arsenal (Chelsea are, obviously, excempt) have spent reasonably substantial amounts on players with "potential" who have become players in the £20m and above category, but they definitely took time to develop and bed-in.

I think we have struck at the perfect time for, in particular, Lucas and Babel, who both look to me like they could be worth £20m in the future. So from an economical point of view the club has done some excellent business in getting these players at a price which may appear fractional in comparison to the service they will hopefully provide for the club.

because there are always the same argument, we haven't produced a good player for a long time, talent seems to get washed away at liverpool, why are we wasting money on youngsters rather than the first team...

by that logic why not just shut it down...

people criticizing babel as a luxury signing, because our priority is now and he is only potential. first of all arsenal fans didn't think much of henry when he first came, same with cronaldo, reckon arse and manc fans would have traded them now for something less risky. second our priority is never 'now'. there is much more to this football club than this year, and if we weren't building up for the future looking for potential future stars we would be letting the club down. i'm sure rafa is looking years ahead when he's picking his signings, he'll pick up a few stop gaps alongst the way but most of the players he buys are our future. so i wouldn't call babel a luxury signing simply cause he isn't ready now...
