Depressing time to be a Liverpool fan.
Shankly went in inexplicable circumstances and LFC went on, Dalglish went in shocking circumstances and LFC went on, Pailsey is the best British manager ever and when he retired LFC went on. At the time, everyone felt just as we all feel now, but there just wasn't the opportunity to discuss it so widely. If Rafa goes, and I hope to god he doesn't, LFC will go on. No one is bigger than LFC.

Yes but Shanks, Dalglish and Pailsey were not pushed by 2 yanks who know **** all about LFC. They walked that happens in football but managers who have the respect of the fans, who have the belief of the fans, who want to stay for as long as possible, who are successful and who have built a formidable team and are still unbeaten in the league should not be pushed.

this all reminds of poor Ranieri when the Russian Mafya took over at Chelsea. His face didnt fit, and the fact that Arsenal went all season ubeaten they would have won the league.
I dont think Rafas face fits in Hicks arrogant mind. Rafa is well loved by the fans for the simple reason that he is a man with simple needs who also comes across as your 'old country' humble gentleman, just like Ranieri. Theres no brashness about Rafa, no cocky swagger or fits of temper tantrums when something doesnt go his way in a match, again like Ranieri. And look who is waiting in the background, yes, Jose Mourinho.
Dont get me wrong, IF Rafa goes, wether he is pushed or jumps, I will be gutted - probably about as gutted as I was when Kenny left in 91' - BUT as I hate myself for thinking this, there are only two managers in the world that could push us to number 19 and that is Cappelo OR Maureen. And we WILL all change our minds about that cunt if he wins us the title.
Loyalty in football died a long time ago so its about time that we got with the program and support Rafa tonight and forever how long he is with us to the ABSOLUTE MAX, show these American ****s what passion and loyalty means on Merseyside but if Rafa does go we should still support whoever comes in, EVEN Maureen imo.

There is a very clear difference in circumstances. In fact the difference is ****ing GAPING.

Sorry but there was massive speculation at the time that Shanks was pushed and also rumours about Dalglish- there really is no difference. Are you actually disputing that LFC can't rise above this? Don't no why I'm asking cos I'm leaving work now to set off for the match.

A sensible post. Whatever happens, and I want Rafa to stay. We will carry on. Some of us will be pretty pissed off but LFC is in our blood. It's like family you might not like what's going on but you stiil love 'em.

lets face it, there isnot one fan on this forum who WANTS rafa to go. There are some who think its a matter of time before he goes, some that the situation is salvageable, some that its all a press hyped understanding.

wherever you sit, we ALL want Rafa as our manager in the short, middle and long term as we believe that he deserves it for delivering some of the greatest nights in the clubs history and also for the current progress Rafa's team has made.

However, IF at some point in the future rafa were to leave- either sacked or of his own volition- who should/could replace him.

I'm sure we all agree that the manager would need a proven track record of winning the top trophies in the game. he's preferably speak English and have a good knowledge of the domestic game.

when you look at that criteria, Mourinho would have to be on the shortlist. As for his off pitch antics, while annoying and irritating, was probably perfect to foster that seige mentality amongst a squad of multinational, dispirit, modern day football mercenaries (and don't think that all of our squad play for LFC for the love of it) and at the same time to deflect pressure from said mercenaries.

but as i said at the top, we ALL want rafa to stay- and what we need is to be united at this point to show the americans that their ALLEGED plans are a giant leap in the wrong direction
                            I fully agree.

It's also getting f**king boring how everyone launches tirades at DJS just because he has different views to the majority on here.

Thing is, surely as for our next manager we would want someone to unit the fans not have us in 2 camps. Despite Jose being a cunt, all what he has said and done is in the past.

Given whats going on, the next manager has to be someone for us all to rally behind and try to untie us all again. Jose is clearly not that person.

He never had much money under Bates. He had plenty when the Russian Mafya took over and would have won if Arsenal werent so ****ing awsome that year.
