As I said, the Rodriguez signing was good PR.
I hope that Torres isn't the same sort of PR stunt.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It's the month or so before the playoff that counts when the teams that want to challenge make some very expensive signings to be able to challenge for the title.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostAlso Dallas do top their division in the NHL.
Dallas hasn't done that since 98.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Plenty of teams don't too, some managers would not want to make large changes to their team pre play off.Originally posted by AFII View PostIt's the month or so before the playoff that counts when the teams that want to challenge make some very expensive signings to be able to challenge for the title.

Hi, 1st post.
My take on it is...
i) Rafa isn't dumb. He knew exactly what he was doing when he "made a mistake" & went public with the transfer shenanigans / backroom arguments. He went public and strengthened his hand in doing so. Fire him now and Hicks/Gillett/Parry cannot look like anything other than mercenaries. Rafa called for fan support and got it 10 fold. Good man....
ii) Hicks/Gillette/Investment. None of us know what is really going on. Credit crunch is hitting every big financial deal. Essentially its more expensive to borrow money whether you are a multi-billionaire or not. Personally I'd love some oil money having seen what money from Dubai has done for Godolfin / brand Dubai. Saying that I don't know one way or the other whether either/both of the Americans want to see Liverpool succeed or whether they purely want a profit from the deal. If they sack Rafa its clearly not about the club.
iii) How unbelievable is Fernando Torres. Wow...
iv) I think we'll win the league this year. 2nd place if we win our game in hand having gone through a crap spell & loads of injuries. Everyone basically fit or nearly fit now.
Benitez stays, we win imo

Now then.

Mebbe aye, but mebbe the yanks dont care what they look like & powerplay worries me at any rate. Rafa has already done enough to justify hinself, he needs ot be given what he wants within reason. He needs to be given exact information of what he is working with in advance- foreward meticulous planning is integral to his success- and it is also a vital part of business & trade (ie transfers). G&H should know that.
ii) Hicks/Gillette/Investment. None of us know what is really going on. Credit crunch is hitting every big financial deal. Aye. But then I cant see that it ever was. They are Yanks FFS
iii) How unbelievable is Fernando Torres. Wow...
Aye. Early doors bit has the makings of a legend. Glad we couldnt afford Villa or Eto'o in this case if it is true. El Nino is class at every level & has taken to the english game like a dream. Cannot see the other 2 having done the same
iv) I think we'll win the league this year. 2nd place if we win our game in hand having gone through a crap spell & loads of injuries. Everyone basically fit or nearly fit now.
Ooo I hope youre right. We still lack Xabi & Agger mind. Not sure we will win it, but we will be thereabout if Rafa is given free reign & we are over the hideous injury stage.
Benitez stays, we win imo
3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Why would any of them need to say Rafa's job isn't in jeopardy? Apart from gossip crazed losers, I've never heard anyone see his job IS in jeopardy. Nothing to deny!Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostBenefit of the doubt? :whatever:
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt when he or one of his cohorts (parry, Gillett etc) comes out and says Rafa's job is not in jeopardy and not before then. Their silence on this issue is deafening and sue me for making an inference from it.

Funny that rumours of Rafa being up for the sack float about the media for a week or so... then rumours of Hicks selling out hits the papers and they rush out to defuse them rumours.
So...nothing to deny about Rafa and his position, yeah right....--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

Rumours about Rafa going to be sacked imminently were out last week. Club issued statement saying they'd be meeting with Rafa on 16th December. So that rumour is put to bed.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostFunny that rumours of Rafa being up for the sack float about the media for a week or so... then rumours of Hicks selling out hits the papers and they rush out to defuse them rumours.

What do they need to do? Issue another statement saying he will never, ever, ever be sacked? Not realistic. You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.
