I dont know about building stadiums, or the price of steel, or how much the credit crunch has affected the yanks, but the one thing I know is that should, and i am 100% certain it wont happen, the yanks pull the plug on the fancy stadium their stock in every business they are a part of will take a huge hit and any credibility they once had will be completely gone.

Due to everything that has taken place there is zero chance that they will dust off the old plans.

Maybe RS4's buddy was doing so under instruction so that they could use the plans elsewhere or any other of a multitude of reasons.

Fancy Anfield will be safe of that I am sure.

(p.s - unless of course the yanks have really sold us out and the new owners are taking a peek?)

I'm not there yet because so far Rafa is still manager and until that changes and they confirm Iain's info about the stadium I will optimistically hope that they'll still be decent owners. I'm a little miffed though that they didn't use the opportunity in Hicks's last statement to try and put paid to all the media speculation.

If you knew my mate you'd know he wouldn't do or say anything "under instruction". He's a contractor and definitely doesn't 'toe the company line'. He thinks the original design is ****, he likes the HKS design; why would he tell me they've been asked to look at their plans again if it wasn't true?

There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

Thanks for the info mate. I remember you were the first to call it and your mate seems reliable.
This info could however have any number of explanations:
            1) It could be a contingency plan in case the fancy stadium get's called in by the govt.
            2) It could be a contingency plan in case the restructuring of the loan doesn't go according to plan and we need a cheaper ready-made alternative.
            3) It could be another client and not LFC
            4) Another reason that your friend isn't privy too....

Or did he leave no room for doubt that we are going with this?

It could be 1 or 2 but not 3 or 4, Lucky. My mate didn't say we were definitely going ahead with the old plans just that AFL had been asked to revise them with 9,000 extra seats. So far the club has paid over £1.5m to AFL for the original plans, a similar figure to HKS for the new design and now they're spending more money to revisit Plan A. We could have had Kakha Kaladze for a few years at that rate ...

I agree. This may or may not be connected to the situation with Rafa and rumours about Hicks being unhappy, which seem to be unfounded. I do, however, think it's connected to not being able to finance the HKS design easily due to the general tightening of corporate belts in America...

RS4 - never doubt you my friend but as Lucky mentioned I was thinking more along the lines of they were told to do it as a precaution/plan b/contingency or something like that.

                    Keep us informed mate

I think this is a bit different to the rafa situation mate.
This is very much a friend of a friend snippet. Nothing wrong with that of course, its what websites thrive on.
As for Rafa he may or may not have been on the point of being sacked but there were certainly issues between the boss and the owners.

I will of course wait and see, but if they have reneged on the new design I will be ****ing gutted.

                              Another PR stunt if true

If it means that Rafa will get more money to spend then that's ok, the team is more important than a fancy stadium design.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
