From the gossip pages of the beep:

Liverpool's American owners are facing a new threat after being told they have to pay back their £350m loan within six months, rather than the 18 they were hoping for. (News of the World)

The club's future is also in danger after George Gillett and Tom Hicks failed to get the necessary funding in place for their new 73,000-seater stadium, which has been delayed by up to a year. (Sunday Express)

i think the gist of what tom was saying was that things are grim and there only gonna get worse,he was proven right.

theres a few people who if theyve looked back on this thread will realize they acted embarrassingly,to put it mildly.

      and owe tom an apology.

I'm wondering what the final scenario will be?

No new ground; more debt; more debt; these lying scumbags won't sell; more debt; no money for transfers; more debt; a bad season, fifth place, no CL; still won't sell; more debt; receivership...

Or maybe more likely, these idiots will ride it out for as long as they can, **** everything over a bit more for a few seasons, take the club to the brink, and then walk away, only when they have absolutely no other choice.

The current situation is unsustainable. Every season we're without a new ground with increased capacity, the worse things get.

I hope what we're seeing now is an exit strategy from the yanks. Without the stadium surely their economic model and hopes to realise a huge profit from the club has evaporated? The only way they can make a profit now is selling to Dubai.

Well the rumours a few months ago were that Parry said the ownership saga will be sorted out at the end of August and now it is the end of August they have now come out and said the stadium is not getting built yet, Will not give Rafa money for barry and now al of a sudden we are getting PR **** about everyone at the club i united ect ect. Only time will tell put i am hoping this is the start of an exit strategy.

Someone (a usually reliable city fan, at work)said that the deal for a Dubai group to buy Man City have been confirmed today. Is this DIC?

No. It's a group from Abu Dhabi.

i think its an exit strategy that we're seeing.

blame the crunch hitting their biggest plan and then say we're going to do the right thing for the club, say lfc's no longer in their interests and leave with a filthy big profit. dic/sheikh will come in as knights in shining armour an say 'we bought at a good price and never increased our offer. they came to us in the end.'

                      its a win-win.

now i could be blinded by wishful thinking of course but i am convinced this stadium no go will be the final nail in their coffin.

Sounds feasable, especially as it's a way for all parties involved to save face.
