And fair enough, you say 'it's clear that something is wrong', but until these things peter out, I'm not going to start agreeing to all these apocalypse type posts that are coming out. And that's my god-damn right.
There's disagreement and there's silly insulting responses thought isn't there sean? You're normally more reasonable mate

According to the press...and we're not even in January yet so you cannot substantiate and double-confirm this.

The yanks promise that they wont load debt onto the club like manure. Hang-on a minute a few months later that's exactly what they plan to do.

And this has all been rubberstamped? And even if it has, so what, the Mancs have been doing quite well, have they not? 'Yea but but but the Americans are going back on their word!!1111' Things change, this is a business world and I guess those chaps know a hell of a lot more about dealing with hundreds of millions of pounds worth of assets than myself and have more financial business acumen than myself, so I have to give them the benefit of the doubt, I don't proclaim to be a know-it-all

They announce a spanking new stadium in a blaze of publicity. Opps can't have that now, back to the drawing board.

That's just exaggeration in my opinion, have you seen the exact construction plans yet? Do you know exactly what the new stadium will be like? As I said before in another thread, £200m ain't just loose change

So on just about every public announcement they've reversed what they'd promised. Never mind I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going la laaa la everything is ok.

Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I live in dreamland and have the fingers in my ears. That is...being patronising?

Dream on, we're being shafted big time.

No matter, the yanks aren't interested in the club being overly successful. The projected income from media and internet rights means that they'll be milking the club and us for years. Turning a nice profit off our hopes and dreams.

The club is now owned by a neo-con coporate ram raider. Anyone who thinks differently is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Rafa will be gone in the summer. We will not buy the players we need. Don't believe the lies, nothing has changed, Rafa and everything our club stands for is in mortal danger.
This is pure speculation anyway IMO.

I fully agree. The post is titled 'No melodrama' yet there are things like 'We have lost our club' (as if it's going to go puff up in smoke), 'this club is in mortal danger' yet again, more scaremongering, as if we're going to close the gates within the next few months, it's ridiculous.

The new owners plan to transfer half the debt for purchasing the club back onto the club (see today's papers). Interest payments will stretch to 30 million a year. That's our annual transfer budget plus some.

Rafa will be gone in the summer. We will not buy the players we need. I was passed some information last night about Masch that's stomach turning, though it's not for me to pass on [edited to remove names - cb]. Don't believe the lies, nothing has changed, Rafa and everything our club stands for is in mortal danger.

I'll leave you with some quotes from Bill Shankly, please compare and contrast with Hick's recent quotes in the Gaurdian.

Now for that facist neo-con ****** hicks:
Playing devil's advocate for a bit:

As far as the owners go, I'm not happy. I don't see how anyone could be. They don't understand the game, and lied about how they would fund their purchase of the club. BUT, they wouldn't make their return if they were saddling the club with more debt that we are able to pay-off. Part of their business plan will rely on us staying in the top four and qualifying for the CL every year, and even they aren't dumb enough not to realise that they will need to invest in players to stay there. For them to get the maximum return they will need some level of success on the pitch. So, as much as I hate the fact that our great club has become just another investment for a couple of big business arseholes, our interests coincide and I don't think things will be as catastrophic as all that.

On the Rafa will be gone in the summer, we won't sign players and Masher is going too stuff, it's hard to know what to think without having had the info that you have. If Rafa is going no matter what happens this season, then it is totally unfair. But after 4 years at the club, it is only right that his position should be questioned if we are not seriously challenging for the league. We haven't even had that Houllier season yet under Rafa, where we came close enough to all believe that next season it would be ours. If we do not put together a decent run and challenge the leaders this year, then surely we've all got to question whether Rafa can really deliver the title?

On Mascher, I think it would be a big mistake to allow him to leave. But on the other hand, even I raised an eyebrow when I saw that a deal had been agreed for £17m. Lucas looks like a great prospect, we already have Gerrard and Alonso in the middle, and £17m for a defensive midfielder who offers nothing going forward seems steep to me. Maybe the owners think that £17m would be better spent on another striker and a winger?

I don't know - I'm not happy with the owners, I want Mascher and Rafa to stay, and I obviously want Rafa to be backed in the transfer market. I suppose all I'm saying is that there is always another way of looking at things, and things might not be as bad as they seem based on the noises coming out of Anfield at the moment. We'll find out soon enough though - if we don't get a centre back in January then that's as clear a signal as anyone could need that things aren't right.

This is more than a little irony in the title of this thread.
                                Oh I don't know.
