Playing devil's advocate for a bit:
As far as the owners go, I'm not happy. I don't see how anyone could be. They don't understand the game, and lied about how they would fund their purchase of the club. BUT, they wouldn't make their return if they were saddling the club with more debt that we are able to pay-off. Part of their business plan will rely on us staying in the top four and qualifying for the CL every year, and even they aren't dumb enough not to realise that they will need to invest in players to stay there. For them to get the maximum return they will need some level of success on the pitch. So, as much as I hate the fact that our great club has become just another investment for a couple of bug business arseholes, our interests coincide and I don't think things will be as catastrophic as all that.
On the Rafa will be gone in the summer, we won't sign players and Masher is going too stuff, it's hard to know what to think without having had the info that you have. If Rafa is going no matter what happens this season, then it is totally unfair. But after 4 years at the club, it is only right that his position should be questioned if we are not seriously challenging for the league. We haven't even had that Houllier season yet under Rafa, where we came close enough to all believe that next season it would be ours. If we do not put together a decent run and challenge the leaders this year, then surely we've all got to question whether Rafa can really deliver the title?
On Mascher, I think it would be a big mistake to allow him to leave. But on the other hand, even I raised an eyebrow when I saw that a deal had been agreed for £17m. Lucas looks like a great prospect, we already have Gerrard and Alonso in the middle, and £17m for a defensive midfielder who offers nothing going forward seems steep to me. Maybe the owners think that £17m would be better spent on another striker and a winger?
I don't know - I'm not happy with the owners, I want Mascher and Rafa to stay, and I obviously want Rafa to be backed in the transfer market. I suppose all I'm saying is that there is always another way of looking at things, and things might not be as bad as they seem based on the noises coming out of Anfield at the moment. We'll find out soon enough though - if we don't get a centre back in January then that's as clear a signal as anyone could need that things aren't right.
