There was quite a difference between the squad Rafa took over and the one Maureen took over.
But it appears some of you are just on a wind up, or belong to the generation of instant gratification.

Well its not like we are in a Houllier-esque state of dispaer is it? We are what? 2 possibly 3 players away from a title winning side? We have sorted out the ressies/youth and are now a constant CL team, something we have never been. All our star players are the right side of 30, most under 25. Its all set up, so whoever comes in has to be better than Rafa dont they? They dont have an almighty mess and a squad full of ****e to sift thru, we have a ****in good squad so to improve on what we have can only be done by winning the league and that should come in 2 years tops. If it doesnt then the new man isnt taking us forward.

Question: Is Rafa (In US terms, a winner or a loser at the moment he's a one hit wonder who got very lucky in 2005 as that could have gone horribly wrong too.)

We have lost 1 Champions League Final, not competed in the league since his takeover and also lost a Carling Cup Final and made heavy weather of West Ham. Yes we have some great players but some decisions are baffling I think he has his modus operandi and despite the resources being correct or not, will stick to it regardless with little flexibility or improvisation.

Drogba £24m, Carvalho £17m, Ferrera £5m to name but a few.

          That helps, no?
Yes it does, but LOOK at the results. He spent 89 million before he achieved that result (2 records). How much has Rafa spent? How much have we spent compared to Chavski before the 2 managers arrived. Where does it end?
The fact is, you don't achieve what he achieved by JUST spending money.
Setting a team up to achieve what he achieved in that season does require a great deal of managerial skill in my opinion.

I wish I could get instant gratification but that is a different topic.

                How much has Rafa spent?

Who has had the greatest impact in the league?

Who took over a team in second and already challenging for the title and who took over a team that spluttered to 4th and was full of ****?

                Who has done the most?

Weren't we 2 or 3 players short last season too? How many did we buy?

At least 1 in Torres, yet are we any closer to being "a title winning side"?

                    INSTANT???

It's Rafa's FOURTH season and we're in the same boat as when he took over, league-wise.

What if the new man doesnt take to what Rafa's set up?

You cant negate a new manager's right to get things set up HIS way. And that takes more than 2 years.

Ultimately though, the main crux is that i dont think Rafa would win the title in the next two or three years, either.

We have finished third the last two seasons. We shouldn't really be able to finish any higher because Chelsea and Man U are miles ahead of us in the transfer market.

Anything else than third isn't realistic.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Mourinho, without a shadow of a doubt. 2 wins and 1 runners up, record points tally and record number of goals versus 5th, 2nd,3rd .

A title winning side? Are you serious? We're 12 points behind at the half way stage
