Twice as skilful maybe on the training field. Pongolle was twice as skilful again as Garcia if you include non match situations (i.e. keep ups or ****ing about in warm ups before games).

I have not insulted Garcia at all, if you think I have you have mistaken my ****e sense of humour, I have total respect for him in the sense that for a little fella he was a battler. Playing on when he was injured and we had no subs obviously eaarnt him a place in my heart. Scoring them important goals in important games did too.

The reason I post against the tide is not down to me having a bad opinion of Garcia. Its because I think i was watching a different player to the footballing genius everyone on here talks about He gave the ball away for no reason whatsoever more or less every single time I ever saw him receive the ball.

I just dont get what the obsession is with him.

His replacement, benayoun, is a far far far better player IMO because he doesnt give the ball away. I know he doesnt suck his thumb and I know hes probably not as good looking (for all you ladies or gay men out there) but hes a much better footballer (not keepy upper).

We've missed his unpredictability this season. He was a good player to have around, imho ofcourse.

We've been worse without him in some ways.

          He was certainly no Dalglish.

I think he gave us something a bit different. The opposition never knew what he was going to do next. The only problem was neither did he or the rest of our team.

He was handy to have around and worked his bollocks off and I wouldn't have minded seeing him link up with Torres but lets be honest here. Athletico probably only sold us Torres if we sold them Luis and who would you rather have in the team?

It's a no brainer. Torres every time.

correct mate. As I say, im hoping im not coming across wrong. Ive total respect for the lad, as he tried his best for us, and on some occasions it worked to spectular effect.

I just genuinely cant understand some people going on as if he was the second coming (dalglish being the first obviously)

I dont miss him that much sure he popped up with vital goals in big matches but he was more of a luxury in the team he used to frustrate me no end with given away the ball!!

.....and if he was a big help in getting Torres then I hope your enjoying Spain Luis cause Torres is ten times the player he was.

bit in black is spot on IMO. bit in red i partly agree with, in the fact that he helped in getting torres who is a better player BUT A :- he is not 10 times the player at all, surely you agree 10 ****in istvan kozmas could beat one torres in a game of footy, although I see the point you are making.
B :- He doesnt deserve such a derisory comment made about him, just as much as I dont feel he deserves all the wank arse-sucking comments in his favour made about him either.

I do have a point to make somewhere, i`m just **** at making it without me fists:bird:

Garcia is a good player. But a frustrating one. IMO he was symptomatic of all the problems we had (and still have) in the attacking third of the pitch. Our "front 4" (2 striekrs 2 wide players) simply haven't been good enough and imo that's why he stood out for us at times, because of his creativity. Someone here posted we've missed his unpredictability this year - and that is spot on. What we haven't missed is his Danny-Murphy-like consistent ability to give the ball away.

Let explain where I'm coming from, even if I didn't quite articulate it first time around.

I just don't think it's fair to put him in the same box as Murphy. I liked Danny but IMO Luis earned many brownie points and reached highs that danny boy never did. Inconsistency is the only common ground they shared in my book.

While at times Luis has the touch of genius he wouldn't quite go down as one in my book. Also like you say his performance and attitude in the derby speaks volumes about him. For Luis's open letter to the fans, I can only recall Murphy bitching about us (GH) in the period directly after his departure. So maybe I should have said twice the man as justification to my insult comment.

He drove me mad. Giving the ball away constantly and drifting in and out of games but he made up for this with his goals in the CL and FA Cup against the Chavs. An unlikely hero!!
