I think it's obvious now that even the players believe he's a dead man walking, just by the individual performances of better players. The dressing room has turned and it'll be hard to get that back. Gerrard played within himself today, he can't rescue us every week and I think he was getting fed up of dross like Riise and Voronin playing with him. It must be frustrating for Stevie, I think he really thought this was the year. Torres worked his socks off and gave it his all in fairness. Shockingly bad performances by Riise, Finnan (surprisingly), Voronin, Benny, Arbeloa. Really poor all of them. Sami was a rock but his passing caused us a lot of problems. Kuyt had no impact as was expected, but I thought Alonso and Babel did well. Reina and Torres won us that point.

At this point in time I'm simply hoping for fourth. The title challenge is dead. We are fighting with Everton and City, and the way they are playing it will be a fight. Desperately trying not to get so wound up about our league games and our poor performances now as I think we are simple seeing out the season and hoping for a cup. Rafa has had four seasons. He hasn't had money to spend to be fair, but even so, he has not instilled a winning mentality, there is no passion, no confidence and our style of play is very poor. Obviously limited players are being picked ahead of ones with potential. One or two major signings will not make any difference to a team with no shape or belief. I believe he will be gone in the summer or before and I thank him for giving us the greatest night of my life.
Poor wee Stevie, maybe as captain if he had of got the team together and playing for one another and looked ha;f interested himself then results might have been different. Instead he goes around like a moany, sulky ****er who doesn't give two ****s about the state of play.
He really gets on my tits sometimes.

Alonso was poor enough to, I thought Kuyt at least tried and won it back in time for Stevie G to almost clinch it with a cracker.
So frustrating when you know the players are better than that and that the level of football this season has generally been better from us.

He's the player who has been carrying us for years and still people complain. Don't get me wrong, he gets paid a great deal and so he should be at the top level. Torres coming in has been the first player to take some of the burden of since Mikey Owen left.

We would have struggled to come top 6 in some seasons had we not had Gerrard. Essential member of the team.

Man what are we gonna do I'm optimistic most of the time and always think we can string a run of wins together in a season.
It's hard looking at that today to be optimistic.

I saw worse players than Stevie today, and yet he's the one who starts getting the stick. I think he's entitled to the odd bad game anyhow.

Does that mean he should sulk and hide on the pitch when things aren't going well. You didn't see Roy Keane(different type of captain but still) go missing, he would have dished out a few rollickings and got his team showing a bit of fight.
                            Not good enough imo.
