If Rafa goes, and I too think he should get to the end of the season before any decision is made, then from the Premiership as it stands now I'd want O'Neill or Mark Hughes. Both have done very good jobs at their current clubs and have sufficient experience from either their playing days or their managerial career to suggest to me that they could handle being manager at a club of our size.

I really don't think Jose would fit in with us and would come with too much baggage and I can't think of too many obvious candidates from Europe who would be able to adjust to the Premiership fast enough.

its true that there's few obvious candidates out there, which is part of the reason i think it'd be daft to let rafa go. surely there needs to be a very strong candidate out there who'd get the necessary honeymoon period.

hughes certainly wouldn't get it, not only cos of who he played for, but really what has he done. he's done ok with one club.

i can see why o'neill is mentioned. he has strengthened every single club he's managed.

but obvious candidates are few and far between.

For my money anyway, a properly functioning Rafa Benitez side plays a far more attractive brand than any Mourinho team.

When we play well, we play good, attractive football. The problem is, of course, we're not doing it regularly enough and when we are bad, we are ****ing woeful.

We've blown a lot of teams away this season, something we've not been doing for a while.

Mourinho's teams don't blow anyone away. They play ugly football. You might come back and say to me "but they win", which is fair kop, but I don't want him or his style of play.

It's a myth anyway. Chelsea played some good stuff under him, just not as fluent as Arsenal or Man Utd, and reguarly out-played us. They could also vary their game and go a lot more direct if need be. Why not with a player like Drogba up front.

I don't particularly think Babel is the answer by the way. What annoys me is that Rafa paid a load of cash for him yet still prefers the useless Voronin and Deadly Dirk ahead of him. Rafa even chose Gerrard ahead of him against Wigan.

So when people moan about Rafa not being backed financially and that the owners have a cheek demanding he works with that he's got, I'd point at Babel as to the perfect example that they've got a point.
