I think the most worrying point is that Gerrard in the last two games have looked like he don't care at all and that is our Captain we are talking about. What signals do that send to the rest of the team?
I think the motivation problem on the pitch is as much Gerrard's fault as Rafa's. It's in bad times like this that you really need a strong Captain.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I would just like to pick up on a couple points with this post. Firstly with the exception of Riise, all those players are Rafa buys. He's had 6.5 transfer windows to change a squad he claimed wasn't good enough but we're still no closer. For me the squad is better than the one he inherited so he can't hide behind that.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostI agree Kev on both points. I have to admit though the last few games have been alarmingly poor. But yesterday was a real low point for Rafa. We're playing TERRIBLE clueless football and unfortunately that will continue whilst you have players like Riise, Voronin, Arbeloa and Kuyt playing as many games as they do. Combine poor poor players along with negative tactics and you get the kind of perfomance we had to endure yesterday....an absolute carbon copy of a GH side.
I'm now very very close to losing faith in Rafa's ability to get it right in the league but he should be given till the end of the season.
Secondly Arbeloa was playing very well early in the season and many were saying he was a top bargain buy (2.5 mil) and should be a regular starter. I will use him as an example of where i believe we're going wrong, he's played left back, right back and centre back this season. The constant tinkering is destroying any form or confidence that the team builds up.
Watching MOTD last night they started with the Mancs, they played a 4-4-2 system and it struck me how well they all passed to each other. This season we've played 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 etc, this along with rotation (8 changes for Luton, 6 for Boro) and is it any wonder that we play like a team of strangers! Mancs/Arse etc all play roughly the same system week in week out.
The comparison between Rafa and Ged get stronger by the day. Heskey on the wing/Kuyt on the wing, Litmanen not getting a game/Crouch not getting a game, Biscan at center back/Arbeloa at centre back etc etc.
Rafa has full control of transfers, coaching the team, team selection and tactics. Ultimately he lives or dies by the results and at the moment it's a slow painful death!

So we need to do the Wenger approach and build a team and over time let it play.....but we dont have the time for that do we.
why dont we? why does everything have to be now now now.he's been rebuilding the club from the youth level up since he came to the club.look at the under 18's,look at the ressies, even look at some of the kids out on loan.we have some cracking young players coming through.
this is the first year he's had any real spending power and even then our NET spend compared to the other s pales in comparisson.
the man needs time.

why is it that if we dont win its gerrards fault? he cant be brilliant every single game.were you saying the same thing when he was on that scoring run of 10 in 12 games a few months ago?

However, although yesterday's performance was reminiscent of the sort of ****e dished out to us week in and week out under GH, Rafa's on a different level in terms of managerial ability. But saying that, there are similarities with regards to constantly playing players out of position or in a number of positions (eg. Arbeloa).
Unfortunately I put myself through the pain of watching the Mancs yesterday and that depressed the f**k out of me. Watching our lot scrape a draw at Boro and those inbred f**k's destroy Newcastl was pretty soul destroying.

It was a question Ronan. I missed the ? at the end.
Do we have time? Will the fans be patient? Is Rafa capable of doing a Wenger. I havent seen any faith put into the current crop if i'm honest. The odd game here and there maybe as sub.

i think, dan that the majority of fans will be patient, providing that he has the backing of the owners.
that for me is where the trust is falling down.back him or sack him ,as somebody said.
we're moving in the right direction, just not as quickly as some people want.Parry is a clown. En Rafa que confiamos

I didn't say that it's always Gerrards fault if we don't win, only that it's when the team are not playing any good that you will discover how good a player is as a Captain.why is it that if we dont win its gerrards fault? he cant be brilliant every single game.were you saying the same thing when he was on that scoring run of 10 in 12 games a few months ago?
That could mean that he is playing good on the pitch but don't act with the responsibility a Captain should do and get the head up on the players that isn't playing any good.
A Captain is there to lead the team, both in good and bad times. If the Captain for some reason don't give 100% then it sends out the wrong signals.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

As much as i agree that Rafa is better tacticaly than Ged our league standing hasn't improved and that's all that matters. I don't like saying it but if he doesn't turn our form around soon we will be in a real scrap for 4th spot with City/Bitters and Villa, as a fan this is unacceptable regardless of any of the off field ****e that's gone on.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostDifficult to disagree with any of the above.

I'm not sure he is capable of bringing through the youth, what was the point in Voronin!?! Better to of blooded Nemeth or Lindfield as 4th choice than bring in a journeyman who offers nothing to the team apart from probably pick up 60k a week in wages!!! FFS!Originally posted by kopdan View PostIt was a question Ronan. I missed the ? at the end.

Shaggy for me that one quote sums up everything about LFC in the league under Rafa to date.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostWhen we play well, we play good, attractive football. The problem is, of course, we're not doing it regularly enough and when we are bad, we are ****ing woeful.
