Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Is it a case of the board has to be in absolute agreement before such a deal can take place?
This whole board backing, can someone explain?

Is it not Gillette and his son & Hicks and his son, Rick Parry and David Moores

Why would they then need board backing, if the 2 owners are in agreement of securing the loan against the club assets.

Have no idea mate, would have guessed they woud have needed the majority vote, which I thought they had. I am not that well up on these matters

Could Hicks have said this as a preplanned exit strategy - so he can say the fans are no longer with him so he is going for the good of the club, whilst laughing all the way to bank his £40M profit..........not bad for a year's work and no input of his own fortune.

                Me neither.

I'm not very business minded and am trying to understand this sort of stuff but in reality it goes way over my head.

The three letters of DIC neve seem to be far away though, do they?
Can't make up my mind if DIC are saying no comment to try and stir things up or because something is up.

Gillett is prepared to sell but not Hicks as I understand it.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                        I hope they are.

What do they get from that...other than some morbid satisfaction of being able to laugh at the jokers that gazumped them ofcourse.

I can't make my mind up about it.

All I can do is hope for positive news. The opposite is far to horrific to even contemplate.

But surely both would have to agree to due dilligence for it to take place?

In that sense, a buyer offering them £350m for their 100 per cent stake could well be attractive. It would allow them to repay their £270m RBS loan and walk away with an £80m profit between them after just a year's involvement. Yet as recently as last autumn, they were valuing the club at an extraordinary £1bn, a figure unrelated to financial reality.
