We may slag them off for their lack of knowledge about our club, fans, history, tradition etc etc etc. The question that should be asked is how they were allowed to buy the club when this lack of knowledge is/was so apparent?
Moores and Parry might just as well have put us on Ebay.Liverpool born and bred.

It might seem that way but if walk out of this with a profit, which seems very likely, surely the evidence suggests they did have an idea.Originally posted by Elvis View PostIt sounds like they had no idea what they were buying into - the tradition, the emotion, the cost - it was all new to them. Absolutely spot on.
They were conned and if it all goes tits up then they will go down in history as the two who sold us down the river.

Yet Parry was very impressed when they completed their due diligence in 3 daysOriginally posted by Elvis View PostIt sounds like they had no idea what they were buying into - the tradition, the emotion, the cost - it was all new to them. They really did think they were buying Weetabix.......

that alone should have given any half decent CEO something to worry about. Due diligence simply cannot be completed in 3 days. Its nothing more than a cursory look over the books. How can you take someone seriously who has such a relaxed attitude towards the figures ?Originally posted by desertscouser View PostYet Parry was very impressed when they completed their due diligence in 3 days
Its not like either of them were as solvent as DIC.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

What puzzles me is the fact that a simple name search on Google would have brought up numerous horror-stories and complaints from the myriad victims of Hicks/Gillett's business debacles (the same ones that appeared on forums after their interest became apparent).Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostWe may slag them off for their lack of knowledge about our club, fans, history, tradition etc etc etc. The question that should be asked is how they were allowed to buy the club when this lack of knowledge is/was so apparent?

Why didn't Moores and Parry anticipate what was going to happen, and what could explain their lack of vigilance in terms of very basic background research? I suppose nobody will ever really be able to get down to the bottom of all of this, I just hope it concludes favourably for the club.

Parry isnt my favourite person - but if reports are to be believed he actually went to DIC and admitted he was wrong which for a CEO of a large company is a very big thing. If this is true then some credit has to go to him. However, I simply cannot see him carrying on at Liverpool as a CEO after his repeated blunders.Originally posted by NICKZS View PostWhat puzzles me is the fact that a simple name search on Google would have brought up numerous horror-stories and complaints from the myriad victims of Hicks/Gillett's business debacles (the same ones that appeared on forums after their interest became apparent).

Does anybody know of any advertised vacancies within the club ? I know they were looking for a web designer. Is it too late for him to retrain as that

To be fair I think Gillet has learned from some initial media mis-steps and has seemed like a decent guy. He was the one originally interested and Hicks may have come across to Moores & Parry as a secondary partner who was bringing the needed extra funding.Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostWe may slag them off for their lack of knowledge about our club, fans, history, tradition etc etc etc. The question that should be asked is how they were allowed to buy the club when this lack of knowledge is/was so apparent?

Added to the fact that once they had spoken to G&H the only other alternative DIC threw their toys out of the pram. Nearly everyone on here and in the broader community of LFC fans wanted to see investment to the point where they thought it was necessary to move forward and compete with United/Chelsea/Arsenal. Moores is a fan too and maybe the potential seemed too good to turn down to him."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
