Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

      persuasion tactics

perhaps some of the buisness men who played a role in getting Gerrard to stay at pool the first time round could step in and persuade those yank ****ers to **** off back across the atlantic.

While I think AFII is wrong about the frequency there is talk that the Premier League are looking to get a couple of matches each season played abroad (I suppose like the NFL game which came to London).

Hicks insists he has no intention of selling up at Liverpool
Last updated at 17:35pm on 20th January 2008

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks today insisted he has no intention of accepting an offer for his stake in the club.

Reports over the weekend had suggested Dubai International Capital - the investment arm of the Dubai Government - was preparing to launch a £500million bid to buy the club.

BBC Sport reported yesterday an offer was in the process of being made to American co-owners Hicks and George Gillett.

And a report from a Merseyside-based media agency went so far today as to suggest the club had indeed been sold to DIC.

However Hicks this evening released a statement in which he described the latest report as "a complete fabrication and ... absolutely and categorically untrue".

Hicks added: "I have not received any offer to purchase the club from the DIC or anyone else, much less accepted any such offer. Nor do I have any intention of doing so.

"Whoever is behind this false report, the facts are that I and my family have always been, and remain, fully committed to co-owning the club; that no-one in my family has ever indicated any intention or desire to sell our stake in the club; and that we expect and intend to be co-owners of the club, and to actively and enthusiastically support the club's manager, players and fans for many years to come."

Hicks' statement was released to PA Sport through financial and corporate communications consultancy FD.

Reports had claimed yesterday that DIC were set to make an offer for the complete buy-out of the American duo.

The Dubai-based group were close to their own takeover of the Anfield club 12 months ago before the Reds' then chairman David Moores decided to go with the USA investors.

On Thursday a spokesman for Hicks insisted neither of the owners was considering selling their share and both remained fully committed to the club.

As I said before he isn't going to sell for tipping money. His ego and potential future profits won't allow it. If DIC want the club then they are gonna have to spend silly money. At present there is no evidence that they intend to.

No but they might influence the venue or push harder for it to happen and for us to be one of the teams involved in it's inception. I also suspect we will be off for mid-season friendlies (like I believe United are soon in the UAE - probably a United XI not a full team but the point still stands).

New statement from Hicks, Alan green doesn't believe it.lol

The point of the statement seems to be to deny what was said on 5live this morning about a member of his family stating they we're sick and tired of the club and can't wait to get rid of it.

At least that's my reading of it. Bargaining position re-alignment if you ask me...

It's not on the offal and I can't find it on PA sports website. I'd convinced myself that if we didn't get an official announcement today that it meant Bill and Ben were up for the buyout.

The only way Hicks will see sense is in his pocket. I doubt he gives two ****s what the fans think especially if the ground is filled to capacity each match and people carry on buying merchandise around the world. Either he is offered big money to walk or Liverpool does not become the cash cow he was hoping for in the future. I suspect he'll still be in place come the end of the season.
