Rafa Criticises Diao's Refusal To Move

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he just couldn't find another club but seeing this in the BBC Gossip Column has made me think again....

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez criticises midfielder Salif Diao for rejecting a move to Recreativo de Huelva. (The Times)

I can't wait until this waste of space's contract is finally up.

      Benítez threat on Diao future

Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, has expressed bewilderment at Salif Diao’s decision to reject a move to Recreativo de Huelva and said that the Senegal midfield player will be lucky to get a game for the club’s reserve team this season. Diao had agreed to join the Primera Liga club before the close of the transfer window, only to pull out of the deal.

“As a player, the most important thing is to play. If you are not playing, you can’t show people that you are fit and a good player,” Benítez said. “He is training normally and maybe it’s a possibility he can play in the reserves, but at the moment we have young players and they have more options than him.”
Only saving grace is that it looks like Rafa has the same opinion of him that the fans do, not even going to get a game for the ressies then
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
      Mine angry and defrauded young?

I think its his last year. He's probably holding out for some bumper pay day when he moves for free. Greedy modern footballers. We should not play him at all this season as punishment.
But really, maybe we should just pay him a lump sum and get a restraining order to keep him away from the ground.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

There is this movie where someone has a lifetime contract with his team, and then gets paralyzed, so the manager kills him. Or something like that.

or maybe a call to one of Romans russian friends, or enemies, would do the trick.

                    Hang on you lot.

There is an article in the news forum on this. Read it, then make up your minds.

If you read the quotes, Rafa has not criticised him. In fact he has been praised for being a good professional in difficult circumstances.

He had a move lined up in the summer, but it fell through at the last minute.

Red Polo - you're not normally the kind to form an opinion about someone after reading the BBC gossip column without reading the article itself, so I'm quite surprised.
                    Oh I don't know.

Only reason he says that is because of his commitment to training and you could also argue that he doesnt want to put potential buyers off, even if it is only for about £100 . Rafa's frustration is at Diao not moving for financial reasons IMO. The way I see it is, Diao was getting more money here and that is the reason he is staying. Stevie G has also criticised him lately saying he knew almost straight away he hadnt got what it takes.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

                            He'll get a club!
But, he'll be in for a massive (!!!) paycut! He steyed at Liverpool because he get's those 50k+/week. When he's out of contract at Anfield, he'll find himself a new club where he'll recieve... I don't know... 15k? 20k? Something like that.

However, although he's our player, he f*cked us over! He's doing Liverpool no good and I hope he'll leave as soon as possible!
