to be fair to diao......if one of my competitors offered me £200,000 a year contract and i knew i was only worth 50k would i turn it down??
No.....>Salif knows he is worth 5k max a week so why should he stop getting 50k a week??
I know Andy o Brien who plays for portsmouth, i was chatting to him the other day and he may be movingm i asked him where and he said Football is a short career,i will go with whover pays the most!!
Exactly - your opinion. You're just guessing. You don't know for sure.
That's not Diao's fault. He didn't buy himself, and he didn't set the fee. Blame the management at the time.
I think we should cut the guy some slack.
He hasn't ever had what it takes to be a LFC player, but he didn't put himself in that position. Others did, and he eneded up there.
no **** him, we should not give him slack, but we should also critisise the formet management team...
it's not like he's a poor boy anymore fighting for his place in his world, he's loaded, and was given opertunity to play in topflight football in spain, but decided against it to pick up his paycheck for doing **** all, i mean for ffs rafa says he's not garantead reserve football...
and also his loan deal would probably not have been that much of a cut in wages as this club would probably been paying parts of his wages...
this comes down to lack of ambition, and show his poor nature...

Lack of AmbitioN???????????????
he is **** full stop and he knows it.....why go to any other club where they will find out he is crap, the fans barrack him etc one flaw in your argument is you say go play top flight football in spain....he is not capable of top flight football nand he knew it ....notlackof ambition, reality check by him

well if he knows he's ****, and thats the reason he's still here, than thats worse, much worse, then he should have the decency to give it up, simple as...

Should he? Really?
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
yes, he should, he's got a bucket full of cash, unless he spent it all and is paying of his gambling debts, then ok i'll let you live. but if not he's taking the club for a spin, he's payed to play football not just to train, and if he has no desire to play he should give it up...

yeh like you would stop recieving your 50k and start earning a more realistic 10k a week.....get real !!
in what other job would anyone goto there boss and say look boss i am gettign overpaid here reducemy wages my80%
Maybe he has a desire only to play for Liverpool at the moment.
My real point is that it's easy for any of us to say someone else should give up £45k a week (or however much it might be) but really you need to put yourself in his shoes. Also, he's a professional, you're looking at it as a fan. That's not to say I don't understand your frustration about it but you can't blame other people for not having the same attitude towards football as you.

the point is not what i would do, it's whats right, knowing my love for football and for this club i could not spin it around...
i understand why he's doing it but it doesn't make any less wrong...

he knows he is not good enough, he is being mercenary, but who can blame him. Winston Bogarde did it for 4 years!!
if his attitude is like you suggested that he has no interest in playing than, no. and with what he has alredy earned it will be well on the way to be enough for his familly...
his familly have no rights to get anything from this club, to me it's simple, in situations like this club should be able to rift the contract with out paying out the wages...

I can see both sides of the argument - but 'd imagine financially he is sorted for life now - if he's had good advise. He's starting to age for a footballer (29) so might not have too many years left to play the game.
Now, if he is sorted for life financially, then I can't see why they haven't given him a pay-off (50% of his remaining contract) and said good-bye. It has to be the Diao camp preventing that happening, which is sad, if he is made.
If Diao had any real ambition left he would have left.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
Red Polo - you're not normally the kind to form an opinion about someone after reading the BBC gossip column without reading the article itself, so I'm quite surprised.
What new opinion have I formed from it? I said normally I give him the benefit of the doubt but seeing that in the gossip column has made me rethink it. The only thing I said about him is he's a waste of space - that much is true no matter how professional he is frankly.
