Disagree. Kinell, our youth team would've won that game today.

The problem was simply that the XI chosen couldnt be arsed and it didnt mean anything to them. It was a 'chore' of a game.

I'd have played some of the kids, at least they'd have appreciated a 1st team start.

Go and read your post which prompted my initial reply. You are the one alluding to the team playing badly on purpose not me. It was a simple enough clarification question. Clearly not simple enough.

Just got back. My observations on the team etc.

8/9 changes (or whatever it was) is clearly too many - especially when each part of the formation (defense, midfield, attack) is completely different from last week. It took us 30 minutes to get used to it, by which time they were 2-1 up Much better for the rest of the game that we mostly controlled.

Observations

Keeper - not exactly inspiring. Should have come and caught for the first goal. Flapped at all the other crosses. Very worrying. Perhaps because he had a dodgy defense in front of him

Riise - ****ing terrible. Again. Outplayed by a pub-team winger. Couldn't time a single header. Troubling.

Skrtal - shocker of a first half. MUCH better second half. His pace to stop one break was fantastic. Could have scored with a couple of headers.

Masher - ****ing brilliant as usual.... except for the final third. He really really needs to practise his shooting

Babel - seems to be an impact player at the mo. Bring him on as a sub (indeed, 5 out of 7 goals are from bench). Shocking passing first half. Again relaxed and was much better second half.

Everyone else - alright. Other than Benny and Pennant who were excellent.

ther`s a real possibility that the team have decided together to put Rafa in the ****.Gerrards inability to support Rafa when openly questioned in the post match Villa game says alot.I`m not sure the team are fully behind Rafa.

I am in favour of always playing the best team but Babel, Riise, and the rest should have been able to play better especially in that first half. Sadly it seems like our squad has no quality in depth. In fact it has no quality past the big five. Without Yossi today we'd have been no better than Derby.

I dont agree Al, the squad depth is decent and the 'fringe' players (some of whom played today) ARE good enough to do what's required of them - eg come in and do a job from time to time.

The problem today, as has been the case for a while, was with motivation. They just couldnt be arsed.

I wouldnt go that far. You've gotta remember most of them are foreign and to them 'el copa dos pointless' isnt usually as big a deal...

And furthermore, it was a 6th division side. Not saying they SHOULD be half arsed, but i know that when i'm at work, if i can complete a project at 20% effort, i certainly dont bother wasting the other 80%.
