Ok, as long as you stop banging on about the game being 'taken away' from Anfield/Liverpool whatever, because that's clearly wrong and if you keep saying that then you don't understand.Originally posted by alunevans View PostDon't patronise me with ****e. I don't need spoon feeding ****e.
If you haven't noticed the extra game is not the same for every team because someone will be drawn against Derby and someone else will get Spurs or City or Villa.
How does that make the league a fair contest anymore.
Tell me that and you might have an argument. I already understand how it'll work so you don't need to send me stupid ****ing comments and quotes from news reports.
Just explain how its fair. If you're arsed that is.
Yes the issue of who plays who is a problem but I'm sure they'll come up with something - it's not like the fixture list isn't staged enough as it is!"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"
LF Clove aka AFII 11/10/07
"i personally hold you and several other gob****es responsible for the chaos this club is in"

On another point, Manure just played a stupid game in Saudi Arabia didn't they, pocketed a cool mil for the trouble and haven't missed a beat. So who's laughing there? **** that even pays Ronaldo's wages for a couple of months"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

i was responding to johnny's idea. i know how the system works.Originally posted by carrsim View Postmate- you will still get to watch man u at home. this is not a replacement game. nothign is being removed
which clubs are saying "for ****s sake, why do we have to play liverpool twice'? (on current form not many but you get the idea)
we do need money- 25-30m a year thanks to the americans and the chase for a new money printing factory...sorry 70k seater stadium
do we do need new fans to fill said 70k seater stadium? yes
will they all come from liverpool? no
as for a competition that is fair and meaningful.....is this the same competition that has completely random, computerised fixtures and yet still sets up not one, but two grand slam weekends where the big four play each other every season?
a competition that has been won by 3 big spenders (utd, blackburn and chelsea) out of the four winners and has the same 3 clubs challenging every year for the last 10 years?
seriously, the premier league is a joke on so many levels and at least playing overseas allows some fans who will never have the chance to see their team will now get to. its one small oasis in a desert of money chasing greed.
do i think that justifies this idea? maybe
do i think that the premier league will use this as a reason to explain their greed? yes
is there anything that can be done? yes- hand inyour season ticket, cancel sky, stop using the offal site, don't buy merchandise. oh and get about 100,000 people to do all that with you
and finally, set up a club in the lower leagues.

but if you think the league has no meaning anyhow, why do you follow it. what kind of dope would do that? you must feel it has meaning or else you wouldn't be arsed where we finish in it. so why support a plan to further erode that meaning.
and if this comes about i WILL hand in my season ticket. for the reasons implied in the above paragraph.

it will coops. listen to the language and the detail. this has been in the offing for a while clearly. scudamore talked of the huge sense of solidarity in the room about the idea. david gold of brum said he'd never encountered such enthusiasm.Originally posted by paulcooper4 View PostIt is a ****e idea and wont get off the ground.
this is happening i'm afraid mate.
nobody can explain how the league's integrity is maintained mind you, or how they feel this extra game can be done fairly and equitably.
but all the clubs smell cash. this WILL happen.
thats why i'm so gutted. because i will be handing in my season ticket when it does.
as i said earlier, what dope would follow a meaningless competition?

Oh I know that mateOriginally posted by Fiddy View Postapparently all 20 clubs have unanimously voted to 'explore' the idea...
Too right these greedy horrible cunts will "explore" it. But there exploration wont go too far. As soon as each clubs fans threaten to tell them to shove there season tickets up there arse (which they will) then it will fade into the background like all the other previous attempts to get this ****ty idea off the ground in various guises down the years

Which backs up my point above mate. You and I would not be alone. Money talks, which is why this ****ty idea keeps coming about, and when tens of thousands of footy fans across the country threaten to do just the same as you and I, which they will, money will talk again and the chairmen will unanimously decide that after all, it was a **** idea.Originally posted by alunevans View Postit will coops. listen to the language and the detail. this has been in the offing for a while clearly. scudamore talked of the huge sense of solidarity in the room about the idea. david gold of brum said he'd never encountered such enthusiasm.

Yes I do mate. Without being disrespectful to the people on here. They wouldnt be really would they? The people who are gonna be against it are each clubs bread and butter. I.E. The local fanbase.Originally posted by alunevans View PostYou really think we're that representative?

This site does not really represent the local fanbase so you are getting a distorted view on that score.
No doubt somebody will twist this into me being against OOT`ers again but it clearly isnt.

i don't follow the league. i follow liverpool (if that makes sense)Originally posted by alunevans View Posti was responding to johnny's idea. i know how the system works.

and i care because sometimes i see liverpool FC unite people in a way i think is rare in modern times- to the point where it transcends sport.
i also see from the players (sometimes) the sort of effort, pride and technique that i think should define not just liverpool but the game of football.
its hard to shake- and anyone who played football as a kid, who can remember the first live match they went to, the first time they saw an FA Cup on TV will know what i mean (as i'm sure you do) ie the sort of passion it evokes in people before you even know what that means etc
i think the football gods know that i am pissed off with the way the game is going and every now and then give me a tidbit (or a 5 course meal in the case of istanbul) to make me think again.
i don't think that playing one game away from liverpool destroys the essence of teh club- just like i don't think leaving anfield does either- because i can see some positives from the two things.
i do agree that the system of such an idea needs to be worked out. i would suggest playing it as the first game of the season- many clubs are away for pre-season anyway, english fans could possibly use it as part of their summer holidays and the clubs have38 games to pick up points. using it as a january jolly up is not ideal imo"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"
