It's motivated by Greed. Pure and simple. It flys in the face of everything we hope football stands for. The link between the club and the faithful fan has become increasingly tenuous over the years and this proposal serves to show that said link is about to be completely severed. Its a kick in balls, a slap in the face. 'We value money over and above all of you' it screams.

Well the PL can **** right off if it goes ahead with this proposal.

If it was to happen I would seriously urge the lfc faithful to set up their own team as per FC United and they would have my full support.

so what you're saying in the next bit is you're not against it in principle IF the system in which it works can be figured out?

      which is what i said
I didnt say it was a prerequisite, i said IF those overseas fans CONSIDER to be one.

The problem is that there's no system which would allow this to work fairly, unless you play an extra 19 games in your league season, to allow every club to play every other club a third time, at an overseas venue.

Just boils back down to money being the most important thing. A football fan doesnt think it is. A cash-hungry non-footie fan would do.

We may as well ditch the PL and come up with something new. They can do some research and whatever generates the most cash can be chosen. Even if it's not actually football.

Saw somewhere that clubs would make about £5m each. It would be wonderful if the clubs used that £5m extra to lower ticket prices for normal games. Can't see it happening though.

            What's next, franchises?
            The Liverpool Reds
            The Manchester Devils
            The Chelsea Lions
            etc

            :whatever:

Our game is rapidly going down the pan.

I'm a 4th generation matchgoer at Anfield in my family and I've gone all my adult life but if somebody wants to take that away from me and give it to someone else simply because they have more cash I'd rather burn the whole ****ing thing down.

The original article goes so far as to dismiss any supporters' opposition as noting more than a minor irrelevance:

"Some fans may feel aggrieved, but their concerns will be outweighed by the financial advantages for the clubs.
Which in reality sums up the way football clubs treat their supporters. They exist purely to hand over their cash and shut firmly up, while the parasites running the game masturbate themselves into a frenzy to come up with ever more distasteful ways to rake in an extra few bob.

You could see the pound signs flashing in Scudamore and David Gold's eyes when they were talking about what a wonderful opportunity this was, jizzing for joy at the prospect of over 100 years worth of tradition being casually shat upon. At least Harry Redknapp had the decency to acknowledge that it was a ridiculous notion, although once the money starts rolling in don't be surprised if he changes his tune.

The only way I see this being prevented is by a nationwide campaign involving supporters of all Premier League clubs. Difficult though that may be to envisage there really appears no alternative, other than gritting our teeth, bending over and allowing ourselves to be roughly shafted by a load of morally repugnant leeches consumed with greed and self-preservation.

I don't really think that;s necessary tbh, I can't see these proposals happening. The ****ty clubs like Brum and Sunderland will salivate at the idea, but the biggest clubs won't go for it imo. If there's going to be a fundamental change to league, I think they'd look at a 'european super league' type competition instead. The money talked about under this proposal is actually not that significant considering the changes it would require.

The whole idea makes me physically sick to be honest. As an OOT-er, I completely agree with DJS,s comments.

Let's look at it this way: say I'm a huge Angelina Jolie fan, buy all her films, posters & stuff. Do I then turn around to Bradley Pitts & say "look mate, I've fancied your bird for years, have spent hunders of quid on supporting her sucess, so I'm owed a quick go on her. Nowt serious mind- just a quick titwank like, no penetration."

Because that is what this is akin to.

Sadly, the people that think this will never happen are kidding themselves.
