I don't think the comments are full of vitriol. He played balls and people are entitled to say so. It's nothing to get worked up about.

No, but I dont expect people to come on here and say sell him for £2m in January after he has one indifferent game.

Pennant for me can be a very usefull player. He'll never be world class but then we might need that from him.
Thought he was great against WH, pulled defenders out wide, help create space, and got in some good crosses.

Today he had some great touch's

I like the way we critise him as cole was crap, but couldn't that be cos of him?

Recon thought if Pennant play's Crouch has too.
Today so often when there was a cross to be put in there were 7/8 chav's around Kuyt and other option was a little forward.

Said before we needed another wide player on the left to pull a defender out or come running in on the back post with the front 2 occupying the CB's.

The Chav's are a great team to shut up shop and down to 10 men with a goal they had no other plan.
Yet we had the chances to not only equalise but to win.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

I said on another thread : Pennant is a waste of skin.

And I stand by that comment. If we can get 2 million in January, I'd take it.
A bt early to be thinking like that.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Mate I screamed my lungs out in support of him today, but that doesn't mean he played better than he did. Fact is he was ****.

Mate, I'm not defending his performance, I was disappointed with it as well, if he was on his game we could have done them serious damage today.

But why are the knives out for the guy after he's only played half a dozen games for us?

I think for some people the knives were at the ready to begin with. My opinion is that today he was absolute ****e, but he will turn out to be a very handy player for us and will prove a lot of people wrong. I have to say you're right from the point of view that there are a few people about who IMO are just gutted at losing again today and as a result have laid into some of the new signings. I think once the dust settles we'll see that the people that think Pennant is not good enough for us are the people that thought that the day we signed him anyway.

I thought pennant was pants today and tuesdayNever got his head up,Bellamy and Kuyt made various good runs first half only for Pennant to hold onto the ball then play it too late or lose it.Anytime he was put under pressure he looked lost as to what to do.IMO back to what worked last season with Gerrard back on the right Alonso and Sissoko in the middle and give speedy a run on the left,or did we buy him and go through all that work permit bollocks to leave him in stand.Time to play a settled team so we can get a bit of rythm and points on the board. Why pro's need rotating 6 weeks into the season is beyond me.

So much of the ball - and did so little except for that one cross.
IMO he needs to improve - and big time.
agreed mate, he got so much of the ball, had countless opportunities to cane Cole and whip a cross in but didnt make the most of it.

Fair enough he was an outlet but more often than not he wasted the cross. Needs to work on that cutting edge.

It's a football forum full of football fans.......what do you expect? We lost a game we could have won, we are hovering above the relegation zone and we have lost the last 2 league games against 2 of our most bitter enemies. There are a lot of well pist off and disillusioned supporters on here and we are entitled to speak our minds!!

Well I thought Pennant was **** too.

In my mind there's no use playing Pennant if Crouch isn't in the side. Pennant showed something like his worth after Crouch was introduced. If you play one, you play the other. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

And why does Pennant insist on cutting inside every time? If that's what he wants to do he should play on the ****ing left. As it is we bought him to get down the line and put crosses in.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He was our only outlet for much of the game, ran up and down the line the whole 90 minutes, delivered a peach of a cross for Crouch, and a few others.

                              Great performance IMO.
