Crouch looked a bigger danger today than Anelka who many were clamouring for us to buy. He possibly should have scored in the first half but it was a very scrappy game with few decent chances on either side.

What do you have to say about Crouch now?

I'll say about Crouch what I said about him before and after we bought him - he's not good enough for an LFC 1st 11. His chances / goals ratio (esp with his head) is poor. We need better. Same as wih Kuyt, Voronin, Kewell, Pennant, and Benayoun. Our attacking options (Torres aside) are woeful.

Poor thread. It was a dire game for attacking flair and off the back of the run we've had, we were always going to play compact football and make not losing our priority.
One game means nothing, Crouch is our second biggest goal threat of all the strikers and his record when he starts is prolific. One game doesnt change that.

Crouch wqould be my 3rd choice striker behind torres and a.n.other, this game wasn't a reflection of his true ability, The problem is many are calling for crouch to play but that is only cos kuyt is worse and voronin isn't even a contender, we can certainly do better than crouch, but he's the best we've got to partner torres at the moment, which is why he should playThomas Hicks Senior

I thought it went without saying, but morph makes a good point about Crouch. Nobody's saying he's a world beater, but he's good and when we say he should play, we're talking within context of our current options.
Depends on which other striker comes in, as to whether Crouch should be 2nd or 3rd choice but the fact is, there's two others we should be looking to sell before PC.

Crouch or any of our other strikers would do alright if we played two up front. For Me my 4 strikers would be:
Torres
Aguero type (as in a proper skilful second striker a playmaker if you must)
Crouch
A Young Other goal machine.
Aye, I'd keep Crouch. He gives us an option very few other teams have. Today wasnt his best game, but I thought he did reasonably well- so did Kuyt today too to be fair (depsite still not offering a goal threat).3rd place. Worst champions ever.

We are we the English so inflexible when it comes to football formations? The English pundits and football fans are always preaching 4-4-2 or else, that's rediculoes considering our dire form in international football and Rafa is the only mamager who has had recent success in Europe with his tinkering. I see many different formations being played on the continent without much fuss.Originally posted by DJS View PostDont disagree, in principle. I dont think Kuyt's good enoug, full stop. Same for Voronin. But yeah, 2 up top helps.

**** game with very few clear cut chances. It didn't help with the ****e refereeing. Crouch's snap shot should have been finished better but there should have been more chances throughout the match.
Crouch gives us something different but we simply don't win the second balls. If we are to maximise the usage of Crouch's 'aerial ability' we need to get players getting around him, preferably beyond him.

Spot on. Leaving him isolated is pointless as any time he wins it, we have nobody close enough to pick up the 2nd ball.Originally posted by Ben Tover View Post**** game with very few clear cut chances.
