must have watched a different game to me.
Solid all round performance from all concerned in my book, especially from a team lacking in any confidence.
Took the game to them without risking too much, and restricted them to one chance.
Kuyt will benefit from that game. Got stuck in, worked his bollocks off and put in a few decent crosses.
If we had lost that game, it would have been doom and gloom, and the press on the manager's back.......i reckon that performance will lift the spirits a bit

You think a draw against an understrength Chelsea side will lift spirits?Originally posted by sniff View Postmust have watched a different game to me.

poor thread but you chose to comment 5 timesOriginally posted by DJS View PostPoor thread. It was a dire game for attacking flair and off the back of the run we've had, we were always going to play compact football and make not losing our priority.
One game means nothing, Crouch is our second biggest goal threat of all the strikers and his record when he starts is prolific. One game doesnt change that.

Crouch played up front on his own at Stamford Bridge and had a very decent game. Yes he had one or two half chances - the clearest one fell to his left foot and it was only narrowly wide. He held up the ball well and dominated aerially for lots of the game with flick ons which put the chelsea defence on the back foot.
Out of all the strikers on the pitch for either team he looked the most dangerous and likely to score.Fernando Torres
I dont just love him, I'm IN love with him

It's sad to say, but we are a really fickle bunch.
Crouch has barely had a consistant run or league starts this year but he gets slated for missing a few chances.
Let's say that Torres, or going back a little Fowler, Owen, Rush etc etc missed a few chances. No body would go on about what a poor player they were. Players miss goals and have bad days. today Crouch, although playing fairly well missed a couple opportunities - but at least he was in the right position.
Oh, and before anyone comes back to me with 'Crouch is not in the same class as Torres, Fowler, Owen, Rush etc' I was just trying to emphasise the point!

he even got the math wrong, if he had cost us the points they would have been 2 not 3 as we got 1Originally posted by Jazzmaster View PostYeah he had one or two but its way over the top to say he COST us the 3 points as did the original poster.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Sack himOriginally posted by Nick77 View PostYes he's a better option up front than Kuyt but ffs even Rush in his old age is better than the both of them! Crouch cost us the 3 points - end of, he missed at least 1 blatant opportunity which for a pro footballer should have been taken. Also the only reason he's a better option than Kuyt is because of the uncertainty he creates amongst opposition defenders & not because of his ability. Our strikers (bar Torres of course) are just not good enough for our beloved Liverpool & we could easily get at least 15 million for the 3 in the summer (Crouch 8 million, Kuyt 5 million & Voronin 3 million), and then cough up 10 million & buy Berbatov. That is the ONLY way we are gonna compete with the top 3, we have to start spending big like they do.
ANelka cost Chelski 15 million ffs when we paid 10 million for Kuyt, now who's better value for money I ask you?!! And I'm not blaming Rafa because he doesn't have much of a budget so he has to go out & buy risky "maybe" sort of players for 7 to 10 million pounds. Manure spent 60 million pounds in the summer on 3 players ffs, how are we meant to compete with that I ask u?!
Rant over...
