i wouldnt know the ins an outs of a business deal this big

my take on it would be that DIC are willing to play a waiting game for hicks to **** up somewhere (maybe not meet certain repayments etc)- and he will.

IF they get in in the first place.

just wish it was all over now at this stage but to me 49% is better than nothing. - a start if you like
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I think Pablo has got this sorted, its to do with Hicks sorting out his other franchises in the states, DIC are sympathetic to this and could be willing to allow him majority for the interim period. I reckon its pretty much sorted and what we are seeing is the end game and the little final bits and pieces being sorted.

      Who really knows though?

        I agree

Theres a few reasons why I think this 49% talk is bollocks

We have done all the reasons above why it would be daft on DIC's part to enter into a minority deal with Hicks

However it also missus the disadvantages to Gillett. If Gilletts sells 1% to Hicks, then the balance of his stake wont be worth as much to DIC, therefore his overall package would be less imo

          Its extremely risky though AF

I just cant see the logic and I think we will have the club floundering for years to come if they only get 49%

Hicks will call the shots and polarise DIC

The above is just hope imo

Unless there is an agreement for sale at a later date. If the 49% goes ahead I have no doubt it is a show for the masses. DIC would not be party to a 49% agreement without knowing they will soon be majority.

Lec, what would happen with Hicks first option/veto if DIC buy 49% from Gillett?

Can he still block Gillett from selling the one % that he still have left to DIC or would he have to buy the 1% before DIC buy the 49%?
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Personally I would wait and see if the 49% thingy actually happens.

No public statements to this effect by DIC either. This 49% could be Hicks spin? Why would Hicks be flying to meet DIC if he is going to call the shots?

My understanding is the first option is all or nothing

Now I'm sure hicks would love 1% its his ideal scenario little outlay to gain overall control

The reasons why Gillett & DIC wouldnt go for this have been laid out above

As has been said the only logical explanation for taking 49% is on the basis of guaranteeing further holdings at a later date

Well the rumours were apparently started by a senior source from DIC, dont see why they would start the rumours if it wasn't true.

As was reported a week or so ago I would expect if Hicks takes majority ownership it would trigger a new ownership agreement.

Im getting more than a little worried that DIC are not far away from saying:bird: to GG and Hicks and leaving them to sort out the mess they have made.
