I spoke to Phil Neal on the phone once. We’d played the night before and, after explaining to him that I was a big Red, he asked if I was at the game the previous evening.

Me: “I was yeah, great performance huh?”

Phil: “I thought the Reds put on a superfluous performance, absolutely superfluous.”

    Idiot.

Speedy, you do come across as very patronising. You're quick to jump on people like AFII, Rashid and myself when we post something you don't agree with also. Yet you resent it when apparently I refer to you as an apologist?!

I don't think I've ever referred to you as an apologist so I'm not sure why you feel that way. I don't think I've even replied to any of your posts since you called me a fool because I posted something that you didn't agree with.

Get off your high horse mate, seriously. You're posting something like 8 replies a page shooting down what others are saying.

Lets just bring this to a halt. You are right and i agree with everything you say. You are the one with the superior knowledge and the rest of us know ****.

Hicks isn't bad after all. So what if he lies. As long as we win the Premier League I couldn't care less. He's better than Moores and who knows what DIC will do. It's best to have a liar in charge as long as he buys us Football Manager signings like Torres, Babel etc. After all, we're all about winning the title and the method doesn't really matter.

one thing i will say,and its only something that i thought so maybe im the only one who thought it.

some of the posts come across as "setting people straight" and can seem a bit patronizing, some could also be considered abuseive,so i think that might be a problem some people may have with you and steve in particular.

thats probably why certain things get said that arent really meant.

but thats by the by mate, your whole post was a good read.
You aren't wrong. He does come across as very patronising, but he knows best

But on the other side, some of the posts that they get in return are almost accusing them of not being Liverpool fans, cos if you aren't 100% pro DIC, you're seen as not supporting the club?

Myself, i have no preference really. After all, I believe the club has gone forwards under Hicks, with the signings of Torres, Mascher, Babel, Lucas and the extension of key player contracts, plus the whole stadium thing (it will get built, it makes business sense). However, he has lied, he has put debt against the club and he is a bit too brash and needs to keep his mouth shut, so i can see why people view him as a bad thing.

But DIC? Will they be any better? Don't know, but a lot of people seem to think so. I don't think they could be any worse, financially speaking, but they may make other decisions that will rile the supporters.

But all this "under Hicks we risk losing the club"? Give me a break...if it comes to the worst, there will always be a buyer who will save us, who will buy Hicks out...it may be DIC, it may be someone else. But we will not become another Leeds.

Tony Barrett is no longer giving much info on the Hicks DIC thing anymore. A bit strange to be honest

All roads lead to the deal definitely being off. May as well shut this thread down I think

There is no way you can quantify the feeling against Hicks

You cant say its solely down to RTK or S.O.S.

Just to counter your 5% argument the Echo did a poll recently and 90% plus wanted Hicks gone and would continue protests until he was

Even that isnt definitive of the feeling against Hicks

So dont claim some moral majority when in fact you have no real evidence of what you are talking about
You and others should do likewise.

The club will never do a Leeds

Theres not enough debt on the club to break us YET

A lot of the debt is secured against Hicks and his assets, yes those debts will be serviced by the club but in the event of a default of those payments it will be Hicks & Gillet who bear the brunt of the banks wrath

That said I dont believe Hicks will be able to take us forward

As the situation stands today Hicks will have to buy out Gillett which means increasing his loans and in turn he will need to increase the volume of personal assetts he puts up as security. The banks risk is spread between two people if Gillett sells to Hicks it becomes a riskier venture for the banks, whether they would be willing to sign off on that is open to debate

On top of this you then have the stadium debt, yes its an additional revenue stream and the banks would be probably happy to back that horse but the interim period between now and stadium opening day will be the key for me

I'm yet to be convinced that Hicks has anywhere near the finances to see us through till that day, the next 3 years is key to Hicks' masterplan

My wife works in the finance industry and theres various rumours circulating about Hicks' finances

There are rumours his financial advisors JP morgan have urged him not to go down the route of trying to purchase sole ownership of the club, theres even rumours they have suggested he sells up his current stakeholding

Yes I admit they are rumours but crucially we know his other businesses arent exactly pulling up trees, he failed in a private placement of his Sports Group (despite protection under 144A) and he has been urged not to publicly try and float the group because of the underperformance of his others sports companies and current market conditions

If you took a straw poll in here I would guess you would be in a significant minority do you want to try??

Just like the straw poll in the Echo

Your 5% figure is plucked from your imagination it carries no foundation whatsoever

Look on this site or any other forum for that matter the supporters of Hicks are VERY much in the minority

But then again all those people on those forums are not genuine LFC fans are they

Sarb you and Rashid are cut from the same cloth. I try to consider both sides of the story you and Rashid don't. You and he take digs at me for doing this FFS, thats insanity. Well guess what is it any suprise I patronize you? This is a 2 way thing so don't try and lump it all on me.

You are right about the 5% but internet fans I don't beleve based on match reports I've read representative of the vast majority of the fans in the actual seats.

I guess what I really meant is that I don't believe more than 5% care enough about the this aspect of LFC to do anything about it and fan boycotts, shunning merchandise etc wont make any difference.
