Good point in hindsight, last year Arsenal went out of the CL in the first knockout stage, United got to the semi's - 2 more games., 2 more fa cup home games and I can't be bothered with the league cup.

The other scheme which United have implemented (and I think it started last year although I could be wrong) is that season ticket holders are automatically charged for their seat for any home cup games. Which obviously helps guarantee a certain level of income per fan per seat.

What merchandising? Most people agree it is pretty pathetic.

I can buy a Chelsea, Manc or Arse shirt in most German sports shops, rarely do I see a Liverpool one. I always ask if they would sell and the reply is that they get as many requests for ours as Mancs and twice as much as the others. The problem is they cant get hold of the Strips.

The other reasons Mancs and Chelsea get more money is the way the champions league money is split, don't you get a bigger share of the English pot the higher in the league you finish??
