What is a bit sad about two of the biggest medals in his locker, the CL medals, is that he won them as an unused sub in each final.

Even his PL medal was from his first season at Chelsea when he was very much a bit part player.

So unlucky that in his pomp he did not get some silverware. Mad that he only just turned 33 three months. Take away the injuries and he would probably only be winding down his career now at a mid table PL club.

He really only had that one season, 2013-14, in which he was able to let rip and stay injury free for most of the season.

Reminded me of a younger Jari Litmanen in many ways when on the ball, though Jari had better luck early on with injuries and got to rack up more games at Ajax that Sturridge did for us.

People on here gave him a lot of stick for having the wrong attitude, which I never understood.

At the start of his lfc career his numbers were elite

Sad isn't it. What a player he was when fit. I'd argue Sturridge is the worst case of unfulfilled talent this country has seen for a long time. An insane talent ruined by injuries. He still achieved more than most, but still...sad. He had absolutely everything.

Amrabat chat got me thinking what one of our previous next biggest things was doing these days.

    Nabil El Zhar

He’s still playing pro at 36, Qatari 2nd division.

Probably getting paid over million a year in the process.
