Most of them are part time clubs, so you’d think not.
I remember an interview a few years ago where he said there’s always work in his Dad’s minicab company if he needs it. But he hadn’t taken him up on it yet.

Once you accept you aren't going to make it, it isn't a bad way to see the world. I bet you'd retire with some stories.

Morgan moved to down south to be with his girlfriend. From training with Suarez and Gerrard to touring amateur leagues. Madness.

        ADAM MORGAN IS A CLARET

        BY CRISTIANO DINOTA

Chelmsford City FC are delighted to confirm that striker Adam Morgan has agreed terms to join the Clarets.

Adam, 26, is a product of the Liverpool Youth Academy and joins from Romford FC.

He commented “I’m very happy to be joining City. It’s a very good club with ambitious goals and I want to help the team achieve them”.

Chelmsford City FC Manager, Robbie Simpson, said “He is a prolific goal scorer and a striker that can link the play between midfield and attack and that is something that I think we need. I'm really excited to bring Adam to the football club. He'll be a great asset for us.”

During his career, Adam has represented England at under-17 and under-19 level. He was capped 17 times for the national under-17 team, scoring four goals, and this included playing in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico. At under-19 level he was capped five times, scoring once.

While at Liverpool’s Academy, in the 2010/11 season, Adam scored 18 goals in 16 games including a run of scoring in each of 12 consecutive games towards the end of the season. Morgan's efficiency in front of goal brought him his debut for Liverpool Reserves on 12 April 2011 against Bolton Wanderers. Adam’s time at Liverpool included first team appearances in the Europa League in which he made his first-team debut in a match against Hearts in 2012 and his first competitive start in the return leg just a week after.

Adam joined League Two side Rotherham United on loan to gain first-team experience before moving to Championship side Yeovil. He then had spells at Accrington Stanley in League Two, Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South, Colwyn Bay in the Northern Premier League Division, Curzon Ashton and FC Halifax Town in National League North before joining Romford.

Manager Robbie Simpson further commented: “Adam comes with a great pedigree having been brought through the system at Liverpool and progressed there into playing in the first team. I've had reports from people that were at Liverpool at the time that I know and they speak very highly of Adam.”

Here’s a short interview with Adam

What excites you most about joining the Clarets?

“I have recently spoken to Robbie Simpson for the first time and we clicked straight away. I am excited to work with him.”.

What do you expect from yourself next season?

“I want to be part of a dressing room with a winning mentality so that winning becomes a habit. I believe Robbie has such mentality and wants to bring like-minded players in. I also think I can help get the best out of people on the pitch and I can be just as helpful to others about the mental side of the game off the pitch.”

Here at Chelmsford we have just launched our Academy. As a product of Liverpool’s Academy, what’s your thinking on giving the youngsters a chance to play for the first team?

“If you’re good enough you’re old enough. Youngsters are important nowadays and seeing that Chelmsford have just launched the Academy has been a positive factor for me because it shows they are a club with great ambitions.”

Have you got any suggestions for Academy players?

“My advice would be: love the opportunity you have; work your hardest in everything you do; give 100 percent and you’ll be paid back in the future. I have played at almost every level and dealt with any situation, so if any player, parent or anyone in the Academy needs any advice along the way I can be there for them.”

How was your last season at Romford?

“I enjoyed it at Romford. I knew I could play at a higher level but I had a girlfriend who I have been with for a long time and I wanted to move to the area. Romford gave me the opportunity to come down sooner than I expected. I will always be grateful. Good luck to them for the season”

Robbie Simpson said: “I think that Chelmsford City is a great fit for Adam as we are a family-oriented club and I think he'll thrive in the atmosphere that we're trying to create at the football club. I can't wait to see him pull on the Claret shirt for the first time."

        Welcome Adam!
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He’s had well over a dozen clubs mostly in lower regional leagues, such as Hemel Hempstead Town, Colwyn Bay, Mossley and Curzan Ashton. Often staying for no more than a few months and 5 or 6 appearances at a time. He’s now at Chelmsford.

Still only 26. It’s bizarre what a career looks like for many professional footballers when you’re playing below the top 2 or 3 tiers.
          This sounds more depressing.

Read the autobiography of Ben Smith - Journeyman, brilliant read and gives an insight to lower league / non league and you ca understand why they have so many clubs

Samed Yesil - has been in the Turkish 3rd division until last week when he signed for FC Homborg, in the Regionalliga Südwest in Germany

Krisztian Adorjan - last seen playing for Virtus Entella. Before that he was with a Serie C club for 4 years before going to Dundalk on loan

Dani Pacheco - without a club. Last at Malaga. Only 29 still

Lauri Dalla Valle - also still only 29, hasn't had a club since 2017 when he played for a Serbian club called Zemun

Krisztián Németh - been round a few clubs in the MLS, until February this year when he signed for FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda in Slovakia. He made one appearance, didn't score, and went back to MLS last week with Columbus Crew

João Carlos Teixeira - recently signed for Feyenoord after 4 years back in Portugal

Toni Silva - his CV is unreal, plodding around all manner of backwaters, playing a game or two, before moving on. Currently at FC Taraz in Kazakhstan. Previous clubs include Şanlıurfaspor, União Madeira, Levadiakos, Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ittihad and Astra Giurgiu
              From my (poor memory):

Yesil- Can't remember ever getting too excited by him, although I'm sure there are posts on this site that might suggest otherwise.

Adorjan- Remember buying into the hype that Hungry were the up and coming nation and we had tapped into their top talent. Can remember lumping on them during a youth tournament, but can't remember much of them at LFC.

Pacheco- I'd take him on a free now.

Dalla Valle- Think I'd learned my lesson by the time he was making an impression. He did look a decent player though.

Nemeth- Looked good, but not good enough IMO. He was tearing it up in MLS a few years ago, wonder what has went wrong for him.

Tex- Very tidy player, but never looked as good as Suso for me. Did expect him to go on and have a decent career though.

Silva- Was he ever good for us, or did the hype come from him being labelled a wonder kid on FM? My memory might be failing me, but i can't remember him standing out too much for me.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Toni Silva had games, or moments in games, where he could look unplayable. I think he went on loan to Northampton and Barnsley and did **** all and it was all downhill from there.

Didn't Yesil arrive having broken goalscoring records at youth level either for Leverkusen or the national team?

I always find it really sad these sorts of things, particularly the ones who actually make it as far as playing for the first team you would expect them to at least be able to have a career at league 1 or 2 level but it really isn't the case. Morgan IIRC played a few European games for us, Teixeira I think made a couple of PL sub appearances.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

All I can really remember about Yesil was that the transfer came out of nowhere, which was the most exciting part. Albeit, we're much more accustomed to these types of deals now.

Ha, did a quick search on Silva to see if it would jog any memories. First find was a FM related post, second was...

This is an interesting listen despite Fowler's excruciating inarticulacy. Worshipped him in the 90s and shed a tear when he left but my God he's dense. Mad to think he wants / expects to make it as a manager - he hasn't the faintest hope cos he can't communicate. When you consider Klopp's incredible communication skills - in his 2nd language - ...it's frightening really.

We were born just days apart and he's felt like an imaginary brother. I feel protective towards him.

Reminds me of that classic story (possibly apocryphal) about McAteer when the players went out for a pizza, and the waitress asked McAteer if he'd like his pizza cutting into 4 or 8 slices, and he said "4 please, I don't think I could manage 8"
