It was a no brainer at the time as we still only 12 behind at the time but with a couple of games in hand, then came the Villa and W.Ham games which haven't helped, but now i think we might be right, depending on the next few weeks.

If nothing else it takes away from the despair that is the realisation that another season has probably passed us by.
you are forgetting to add the points handicap of the other teams. I'm sure that makes Everton miles ahead and a few others too. You have to add all the handicaps to all the teams mate.

You should think about laying it if you can get that on the exchanges

the bet was put on the 17th Jan, not at the beginning of the season. the one at the beginning of the season is normally 33/1 the field. I reckon thats a superb bet !!

Nic thanks for pissing on my parade

I did say i wasn't much of a gambler, but it could explain the good odds. Not too worry there's alway's next year.

Sorry mate but best you find out now than actually think you've won at the end of the season! You best double check just to be sure though but I would certainly imagaine that's the way it is (most certainly is from the start) as the bookies are no mugs!

Disclaimer: they aren't as good as some would think though!

I guess it wont last much longer looking at our next four games in the league, but if it did...............

Either way I'm gonna keep bumping it back up every time we win and one of the teams above us drop points

I love being able to be stupidly optimistic again!
Well we won, and Arsenal dropped points, so.........

              BUMP!

Looks likely the gap will now be 11pts to Man U and 8pts to Arsenal and Chelsea, by the time our next game comes around. Anything less and it's a bonus.

Man U up next and it's likely that will be the end of the (very) optimistic dream of the title. Still, let's see eh?

Latest Odds at Ladbrokes - No change for LFC:

              Manchester Utd 4/9
              Chelsea 3/1
              Arsenal 9/2
              Liverpool 80/1

If we somehow come away from Old Trafford with 3 points, certain people will be shooting their load

                80/1 now...

Would you have any hope with it down to 8pts? Chelsea V Arsenal later in the day to so more dropped points for a rival.

Still to tall an order I think you'll agree, but at least this mini run has cheered me up. Plus Man City and Villa are miles away now. Only Everton who can catch us now.

Not really any realistic hope, because...

We need to win ALL our games, including Man Utd and Arsenal away...

Even then, we need Arsenal to lose 2 more of their remaining 7 games and United to lose 2 more of their remaining 8 games, PLUS Chelsea to lose 2 of their remaining 9 games.

In all, the top three would need to lose 8 games between them. To put it into context, in the first 29/30 games, they've lost 8 between them. We need them to lose ANOTHER 8 between them in the last 8/9 games. And even then, we'd need to win all 8 of our games, taking our winning run to 13 league wins in a row.

                    Wildly unrealistic.

The reason I can't see it happening is the reason you've outlined above.

Few more points better of then it would have been a do'er, likewise if there was only maybe one team we were chasing down. But three? Unlikely they'll all collapse.

To put it in context 5pts from our next three would be okay (win v everton), anything above would be a bonus.

What percentage of a chance would you put on Arsenal losing 28% of their remaining league games, United losing 25% of their's and Chelsea to lose 22% of their's, while we win 100% of ours?

Furthermore, how did you manage to watch United, Arsenal AND Chelsea's games today?

I had 3 streams running at once or managed to watch the Highlights of all four games on RTE 2 at 7.30,can`t remember which.

Well you wouldnt have needed 3 simultaneous streams, given Arsenal's kickoff time So i have my doubts about you watching all of their three games in full.

Anyway, me being petty aside...what is your answer to the percentage question i put your way?

Taking draws into the equation, the fact that Rafa`s rotation system means that we are fitter than any other team and the fact that ManU,Arsenil and Chelsea hav`nt got much of a bench while we don`t need one as much,we have a great chance of catching up with them all.Obviously not enough to win the PL but maybe enough to finish 3rd or even 2nd.Anyone of the top three can win the league,it`s that close but it also means no team is that good that they will definately win the league. No?
