    Guthrie £2-3m?

We're looking at at least £20m incoming.
I think we'll see a major clearout this summer.

Pennant, Voronin, Riise, Carson, and Kewell are all definitely gone.

I can see Finnan being axed. Itandje could go as well. Not sure about Guthrie.

I suspect one or both of Crouch and Kuyt will be off.

We might get a good offer for Alonso. Which, considering his form in recent seasons, should be accepted.

And considering the strength of our reserve side they don't all need to be replaced.

I'm not going to list the positions which need new blood/upgrading. We all know which ones they are.

I reckon he might stay as a squad player, for when Rafa plays 4-4-2. I think he's decided to play 4-2-3-1 now though, and we'll see a lot more of Gerrard playing just behind Torres, with Babel left and a new attacking player right. Mascher and Alonso/Lucas playing deep.

Yep he seems to have decided on 4-2-3-1 for now. Be interesting to see if he keeps it going for West Ham or opts for two up top.

I think Alonso, Kuyt and Crouch will stay unless we receive silly offers. Agree with Voronin, Riise, Carson and Kewell, but reckon Pennany and Finnan will be kept as squad players if nothing else.

I think we would probably get about £3m-£4m up front for Pennant with possible additions dependant on performance. We have to expect that as an LFC player he will be on decent wages and if we are looking to get rid that will knock a bit off his price. There is no obvious team in the big spending European chasing PL teams really, so unless Redknapp continues his rather random purchasing philosophy of late then I can't see anyone able to pay more than that.

Don't know why Pennant was ever bought in the first place.

For how many seasons now have we said there is bound to be a clearance, one or two go and the vast majority of the deadwood are still floating around.

With the financial uncertainties coupled with how Rafa likes to use the squad (he chooses numbers over quality?) then i can't see all of the 'usual suspects' going.
                We come not to play.

Pennants lack of progress is down to never getting more than one consecutive game. I'm damn sure he'd be alot more of a threat out wide than Kuyt

Rafa will have to get rid of the deadwood in order to generate money as reports suggest after the refinancing of the club, Rafa won't have a lot of money to play around with.

Rafa signed 7 of the 10 players listed in your post.

But to be fair Itandje was bought in on short notice to cover for Carsons loss who wanted games and in all likelihood we will make a massive profit on Carson when we sell so that is in fact good business. Voronin was free so hardly a major miss-step, rather a failed low risk gamble.

I also make it 7 from 11 with Alonso hardly qualifying in any way as a failure of a signing in any way.

if we have moved up to the higher spend bracket of the mancs/chavs and all is well in the boardroom this summer wwhat positions defo need adressing with 1st choice quality?

for me it would be another striker and a right winger, but top draw stuff this time, money no object.

A striker that can head the ball. We get in a legion of crosses and set pieces and there is never anyone attacking them

Alonso hasn't been mentionend(to be sold), as far as I can see.
Anyone think Rafa will cash in on Xabi, seeing that we already have 3 other CMs and we could stick with Guthrie as a 4th choice CM?

i think he cost about 12 million with appearences etc, so the bid would have to be a bit above that as rafa wont loose out on him, whats he worth in todays market?
