    How much do we need to spend this Summer?

    Assuming we qualify for the CL (I know, touch wood)

    For me we are not that far off a great first team. IMO we need

    RB = Rafinha
    RW = ?
    LB = ?
    Playmaker = Aguero (30M GBP)

    We can sell Carson, Veronin, Pennant, etc, etc

    My point is we do not need a huge influx of cash to complete our first team. Consider sales and CL money we will have a fair wedge. If DIC come in and invest 20-30M GBP on top we should be laughing for a long time. We have a fantastic young team already IMO.

      One Top Class Winger,
      One Left Back.

      Gross £40m, after Sales £20m?

        I wouldn't want more than 2 players coming in. We have a pretty good squad as it is, and an influx of too many players will disrupt this. Besides there are 3 kids that are IMO ready to be in the 1st team squad.

          I say **** buying 4 or 5 squaddies, and just go for the No.1 targets, eg Alves and a top top winger/CF. We need at least 40million.

            Nett? Considering we should have 15GPB as per normal (eg CL money) that would mean a one off 25M GBP investment from DIC (whoever) and we should definitely be PL contenders.

            We are not far from being the finished article, or at least close to it IMO.

            I'm excited.

              alves (upgraded RB)
              bridge to replace both fabio and JAR (JC as backup left back).
              voronin upgrade
              pennant upgrade

              thats it.

                We need a team that can still compete week-in week-out if Gerrard or Torres or Mascher get injured...so deffo another top quality striker and probably a top quality right-winger. That could cost 40 mill easily. I wouldn't say no to a playmaker either - a bit in the lil Luis mode - inventive, elusive, tricky, scores goals, get free kicks etc.

                  I really dont think there'd be much point in signing Wayne Bridge, he's hardly the amazing LB we need and we'd end up looking for someone else to replace him before too long.

                    We're not going to get another top class striker who's gonna sit happily on the bench waiting for Torres to get injured.

                      If Fabio can stay fit then dont see need to replace him, sell Riise and lets blood Insua
                      right back, well, I think Finnan may need replacing, Rafinha?
                      Perhaps another striker and/or winger.

                        well Anelka seemed to happily go the Chelski knowing he wouldntr be first choice (but for how long that situation lasts who knows....)

                          Rafa's rotation will see Torres out of the team anyway. He cannot play 60 games a season. Besides, Chelsea went with Drogba and Anelka - let's see how that works before we say it's impossible. What you are saying is that Crouch and Voronin have to sit on the bench because they're not top notch...but that's kinda like our problem....

                            Why would a top class player sit on our bench for half a season when he could play the majority of games for another top club?

                              i'd give aurelio a season long run if only he was fit enough. i can't think of any world beaters we could get at left back but that's down to my own ignorance of lower english/european leagues as much as anything.

                              given that i like how bridge attacks, rarely loses posession, is quick and can defend better than riise, and that aurelio is made of glass, selling both of them to get bridge in and have insua as back up is a move i'd make with little extra outlay.
