not sure who you are but ive seen people die for real mate twice over so i know what it means. Ive been to moscow and st petersburg and i'm confident youre very wrong.

therell be little trouble even if its us and the scum
the ruskies will run tight ship. there will be little or no trouble. anything brewing will be expertly nipped in the bud LONG before the bloodshed stage.
Youre not dealing with china here youre dealing with pro's. even the most retarded urchins or scum hooligans will be seen coming 3000 miles off. they wont be shooting people and cracking heads.

The only bashing the english fans will take over there will be in the wallet

I'll be there and I'll enjoy the vodka, the beer, the caviar and the game.

It will be a world showcase for modern, capitalist russia

the government will ENSURE it passes off smoothly

they know who their troublemakers are. I dont see them being allowed anywhere near the "tourists"

Having been there I dont think thres any evidence to suggest its any more dangerous than say....manchester or glasgow where I live now.

The people I came across were incredibly keen on tourists (and their cash) and I always felt safe.

The "notions" of lawlessness are way off the mark and in terms of crowd control.....this isnt the post war era. Id be FAR more worried (from 1st hand experience!) for the scum fans tomorrow than being among 50000 english in moscow

I also think that much as we hate the mancs, the real amount of trouble at our games is far less than it was when i went as a kid in the 70's. Most of the people who fork out for the moscow trip wont be going for a scrap. The few that are will be easily contained by a very very efficient police force (in crowd control terms).

In addition I dont think theres been any evidence of significant trouble at any of the champions league games in the city.

I hope you are right, I said the same thing about not going to Galatasary and my mates that went said they had no trouble what so ever, in fact the night before the game they got into the stadium and got got photos sitting on the bench and in the tunnel.

I still will not be risking it this time no matter who the oposition.

I applied for tickets in the UEFA ballot, but with no intention of going to final in Moscow even if we get there. I didn't win tickets anyway so it's all academic I guess.

I swore blind I would not go to Athens if we got the Mancs in the final. Obviously that still stands for this final, but after the Athens experience I will not be going to any EC final under any circumstances any time soon if we get there and regardless of who the opposition is.

Just because you're not sure who I am doesn't mean my opinion is less valid than yours. I'm quite stunned that anyone would comment on seeing people dying as a credential to back up there opinion.

then you're lucky not to have gone through the soul searching and analysis it provokes. If you cant comprehend that going through that kind of thing, first hand, "qualifies" your opinion on the likelihood of death and violence at a football game then your opinion probably isnt worth much anyhow

Al, forgive me but that is total crap: I am a Brit that lives in Moscow for more than 12 years now and I can personally tell you that Moscow is NOT unsafe; in fact it 100 times safer than the UK at present.

And if we do get to the final I'll be only to pleased to give any traveling support a helping hand for places to drink/eat or even watch the match for those traveling without tickets. Even here we have a big Reds Following (pardon the pun..lol)

After reading the thread more fully I must say that most of you haven't got a bloody clue, sorry guys but you're talking out of you backsides and certainly have not the first idea of what Russia is really like.
Respect to you E.O.T.S you seem to be the only person with a reasonable insight, so far.

Whilst I am sure you believe what you have stated, I also have mates that went to Russia when Wales and England played and they stated that there was trouble pretty much everywhere they went.

Well I Dan if there was it must have been extremely minor, as there wasn't any mention of trouble in any papers, TV or such like local or international.. Like I said maybe minor..

But I can assure you that policing at big events and/or high profile sports events is extremely well enforced.. In fact they have 100's of police and dog handlers on all major routes and stations leading to the venues.

I have been to many international football events here in Moscow, including the England and Liverpool matches that have been played here in recent times and all have never been problems, well nothing new worthy anyway, and certainly not anything to credence to some of what has been posted above. Those wishing to come to Moscow for the final (should we get there) should not be afraid to come..

I will also point out that should it be an all England final there will be massive police presence and very tight security.. Moscow government (I say Moscow and not Russian..believe me there is a difference..lol) is very proud to be holding this event and they will make sure nothing spoils it, you can be certain of that..

I will agree that should Liverpool and the scum make the final then there is a high possibility of some trouble from factions of both sets of supporters, but that is the risk no matter where such a match would be played. Anyway my gut feeling is it will be Liverpool - Barcelona final...

All in all my point is that there is little or no problems from locals at such events and not - that it doesn't happen....
