Now try and argue that we are not hugely improved. Just think where we would be now when you see the improvements utd, cfc, and the arse have made. We would be competing with efc, avfc and pompey.
it amazes me how many fans can't see that even though we have sustained our place in 4th without the work Rafa has done we'd be competing for the mid table places.

We need a manager who will not set us out to not lose a game, we should be looking to win and attack every opponent no matter who they are! We are Liverpool ffs!!!

I long for attacking exciting football like we had with Barnes, Beardsley and co.

The man who I would like to take us forward is Gus Hiddink.
Should you not be saving this for 606 or You're On Sky Sports?! Sad man. Listen bud I'll give you a tip... go support Newcastle. I promise that you'll never be dissapointed when as delusional fans you'll get good managers sacked & therefore never win a f*cking thing. Jaysus you're a gimp.

exactly, and even with a wank squad he won us the CL.

What are you on, mate? "4th again" - we finished third in the previous two seasons. It was Arsenal who were 4th in those seasons. They only "nearly won it" this season slightly more than us - and we put them our of the CL

This is a crazy end of season thread really but there are a couple of points that need stressing.

Firstly, if a new manager is appointed, we would have another 3,4 or 5 years of transition whilst the new guy proceeds to clear the decks of players that Rafa brought in while bringing in men of his own. Meanwhile, the clubs around us are stable and are growing meaning that the gap gets bigger than ever. Sometimes, I think its just best to keep pushing with what we have got, especially while it appears the fans and players are still behind Benitez.

Secondly, you want attacking football. Arsenal have won **** all this season, so thats what attacking football gets you. As for the Mancs, for all their wonderful football this season, it would have been a damn site different if Ronaldo hadn't scored 40 goals this season, half that and they would have been where we are. As for Chelsea, they play **** football at times an with all their problems are exactly where United are in terms of points and final appearanes. If it wasn't for those two stupid points dropped against Wigan, the title would be going to Chelsea.

Attacking football is all well and good but perhaps we should just get behind the manager and concentrate on winning games first. We have lost less games this season than the Mancs. If we had turned some of those draws into wins, we wouldn't have been too far from the title now.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

There's only one answer. Sack Rafa, get Kevin Keegan, attacking football here we come.....

What complete nonsense. Talk about looking at everything with rose-tinted specs; 20 years ago football was very different, and although we had an "exciting side" with Barnes & Beardsley, do yourself a favour and check out the league table from 1988.. Notts Forest and QPR were in the top 5!

What really amazes me is how simple some "fans" make it sound. All we need to do is set the team up to attack everyone no matter what because we're the great Liverpool and we should win every single game? Great ideal.... in reality if we did that we probably wouldn't even finish in the top 10. Did ManU, recognised as the best attacking side in England, go helter skelter attack when they played Barca? Did they ****. Do "attacking teams" Arsenal and ManU end up drawing 5-5 every time they play? Do they ****.

If it wouldn't be such a disatser for the team I love, I almost wish some of the pillocks on this (and other) sites would get what they want, rid of Benitez and O'Neil or someone in charge, see how long it takes them to realise what a piece of complete madness they'd just supported. We have no divine right to win the league, and the idea that bringing in another manager, especially one like Hiddink, with absolutely no experience in this league at all, would suddenly transform us into glorious attacking league winners, is just nuts. Benitez has restored our reputation as one of the best sides in Europe, and started bringing genuinely world class talents like Mascherano and Torres to the club.... to abandon the project now would be insane, and absolutely NOT what the Liverpool Way is about.

For the last 2 seasons Rafa has failed to get the most out of our squad in the league.

and on that basis should he be sacked? Or do you believe he is building something with quality additions while the competition have also been improving at a greater rate?

Is our squad as good as Uniteds or Chelseas? No, they aren't so why are we expected to have finished higher than them.

They outspend us on a regular basis and have done for a while. The only way to compete is to do it over a number of seasons.

The signings of Torres and Babel in the summer followed by the permanent signing of Mascherano is showing that we are now buying quality young players who will improve the squad now and also in the future.

well said, I think you are correct, Rafa is the best thing that happened to us in a long time. Great manager, that has restored our reputation as on of the great teams. We have more talent, if not for the november incident and onwards we would be genuine challengers by now IMO.

The statistic i posted earlier shows that he is doing as well as ferguson or wenger (which many for some reason hold in the highest regard as what a manager can become). He has better win % than some of our best managers of all time (paisley and shankley)...
