He also said he was off the Barca the other night.

I guess we will just have to wait and see but he's the type of wide player we need.

Unfortunately Crouch lacks the one massive 'must have' in today's Premiership which is pace.
He's technically good, decent in the air but nothing special considering his height which means he is ideal to play for a team that will use him as their target man bringing midfield runners into play like we played a season or so ago.
It also means that defence's play a high line againest him because he can't run you over the top and to keep him away from the last third where you can get the ball to his feet or chest, also because he doesn't score a lot with his head he's not a massive threat from set pieces.
Rafa knows best, we have evolved as a team and if Crouch goes we'll either replace him with someone who suits our style of play or Babel will play more up top.
Just because Crouch is a nice guy doesn't mean we can't do better.
