Crouch to leave for free?

I'm a big Crouch fan but I accept that he's got to leave because as long as Rafa persists with this nonsense formation there's not really a place in the team for him.

Still, we will need to sign a replacement as I would cry a little if we had to start games with Kuyt or Voronin as our main striker if Torres gets another knock like he did this season, or if he needs a break. Nemeth isn't there yet and Babel too would be too heads-down and doesn't have much in the way of aerial ability.

The difficulty would be finding a decent lone striker type who is willing to spend most of the time sitting on the bench.

i read today that kevin kegan wants him at newcastle and a deal to sign crouch may have milner comeing the other way dont no what to make of it but a year ago i did rate milner as 1 for the future

I would like to see us swap out the likes of Pennant for more flexible players who can play in multiple positions but it is not clear to me that Milner would be the answer. At this stage I would rather have the money to put towards better top end signings than worry about the make up of our back up players.

I guess it all depends on what other deals we have already lined up or being lined up.

I don't see why the barcodes would want rid of Milner? Good player for them IMO.
