also where exactly have i criticised rafa here? i've made clear what i think should happen if he doesn't deliver the title.
How did Liverpool under Houliier in the CL compared to Rafa?
Any of the improvement you are looking for?
And how often did we go to the knock out stages under Houllier?
And since Rafa took over, we have been among the favourites nearly every year. Except for the season 04/05 maybe. That is many years ago, we have been used to that.

Before the start of 89/90, Ferguson invested heavily in players, and there was even a banner saying : Three years of excuses and it's still crap.
Still he stayed and he have done pretty good since.
yet it is universally acknowledged as saving his career

these are not the questions you asked, you posted some revisionist nonsense about how we've not been top of the league before nor qualified for the knockout stages of the champions league.

and in the same way people talk about the premiership becoming tougher i feel the european competitions are becoming weaker.

its all swings and roundabouts really, this tread is about is it rafa's last season. no matter what you or posters like you come up with as far as i'm concerned if he fails to win the league this season he should be sacked.

whether you agree with me or not i'm sure you can see my point of view. i expect a liverpool manager to deliver the league if given 5 seasons to do so.

Round and round the mulberry bush......

How about we declare an armistice on here guys?

Rage - in the summer you said you thought that if we weren't "in serious contention at Christmas", Rafa should go. Well we are. Now you're saying if he doesn't deliver the title this year he should go. Personally I think it would be fairer to see how it all pans out - if we won 19 out of our last 20 games, but one of our rivals win all 20, then sacking him would be insane, but anyway, how about we now say "phase one has been achieved and we'll now wait till the end of phase 2 (ie the season) before making such judgements". Nobody's sacking anyone between now and May anyway, nor should we, I think you'd agree with that, so....

It'd make everyone's time on this forum the next few months, yours included, a lot more pleasant.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
              Mine angry and defrauded young?

                      Well why didn't you then?

OK, so we're cool then (till 5pm at least ), we all agree that nobody wants Rafa sacked right now, the season so far hasn't been perfect at all but if we were offered in July a 1 point lead at Xmas, and CL qualification, we'd all have taken it and said anything further judgements should wait till the end of the season?

So everyone agrees the subject can now be put on hiatus till May?

No i laugh at that statement, "breathing room" So if we win the league then Rafa has breathing room for how long? The manager who win us the league after so long.

No, this is not the questions I asked, but you won't answer my original questions, so I have to post something new.
Or more likely, you can't answer my original questions.

Yes, but that doesn't mean, that it was considered a success just to win the cup.
