So who ? There aren't many of them and if they were available at a price that fell within our budget, then maybe we would have gone for him. But no, CM 2008 is very different than the reality.
I was thinking about this the other day - who??? - a came up with an answer, a random shout, but suprisngly someone who has not been mentioned at all. I think Petrov from Man City would do a job dowm the left, he had a good season last season, he is a an old school winger who hugs the touchline and stays there, he has pace and he can deliver a final ball. With all the **** going on at man city a cheeky £7m bid would be interesting.

I can't think of anyone else who we could realistically get and is capable of doing a job down the left

I think the issue is though, Dosser is so ****ing amazingly good going forward this left hand player needs also to be solid defensively possibly even slotting into LB occasionally ... know anyone who can do that ?

Wenger and Arsenal would snap him up now if they had the money.

          But they don't.

          So there's one.

            I'd rather have Downing.

Downing had a great game on Saturday and put a series of superb balls into Spurs' box.

Watching the highlights of the Villa match Barry looked excellent at the weekend. I think the fact he runs from inside to out rather than staying out on the flank is actually likely to benefit our style of play whether he started on the left of a narrow midfield quartet or in the centre of any of the formations we are likely to play.

                      - yeah downings a shout too - difference being tho, downing cause he is english would cost £12m minimum, where as Petrov, with all the **** going on at city, would prob cost £6-7m - obv i am just guesstimating prices

I'd say that he is an unrealistic signing. Or if we are to continue the madness raise you a Ronaldo.

I also liked how he drives in to the box and thus add more attackers for the opposition to worry about, very rarely do we see any of our deeper laying midfielders to this.

Xabi offers the team far too much to contemplate selling him. I am certain Rafa has fallen out with him on a personal level and that's why we're getting these shenanigans. I wish they'd put it all aside, as the best outcome for LFC, IMO at least, is for Xabi to stay.
fully agree, Plessis, for all his hardwork has very limited passing.

                                Fat Ronaldo

Was Joe Cole not linked with a £10m move to Villa only last week?
