Another MASSIVE game

Yet again a thread goes back to "NET Spend". I'll mention it again as you like your stats so much Rashid, Rafa so far has spent an average of £4,676 more on each player than Houllier. And that's without making any allowance for inflation and the way values have gone up since the new TV money has come in. Think about the players both Houllier and Rafa have bought and then tell me he hasn't spent well.
And for some of the other points made above; all Roy Evans won was the League cup and Souness the FA Cup. Like them or not, they both made some good buys and the shape of the squad on Houllier's arrival was much better than when he left.

Surely thats down to the fact of how much money he has brought into the club from being the best team in Europe since he took over?Originally posted by Rashid View Post
Rafa has never had it so good, no manager in the PL over the past 2 years (since the "Muppets" have been in) or any manager in LFC history (taking into account inflation and state of the market) has been backed with as much money as Rafa has given the position of the club (we are no longer number 1 with the best revenues in England).

Don’t be stupid.Originally posted by Rigadon View PostFourth place under Evans was considered a failure. Fourth place under Rafa was/is considered a success. The biggest difference between the Evans era and today is that we’ve gone from expecting to win the league to accepting a top four finish.
No one considers 4th place as success, but anyone with a bit of wit knows it’s the minimum we must aim for to guarantee CL revenue. 4th place is a hell of a lot more lucrative now than it was ten years ago.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

As the lad said we expected a title challenge back then despite Evans spending net £6m a season at a time when Newcastle were spending £22m on two strikers, we don't expect a title challenge now as poor Rafa doesn't get any money. FACT.Originally posted by RedReet View PostDon’t be stupid.

Of course we expect a title challenge now, don’t be so dramatic.Originally posted by Rashid View PostAs the lad said we expected a title challenge back then despite Evans spending net £6m a season at a time when Newcastle were spending £22m on two strikers, we don't expect a title challenge now as poor Rafa doesn't get any money. From reading your other posts it’s not worthwhile me elaborating, but any fool can see Rafa has a completely different challenge in today’s game, than Evan’s had ten years ago, and so far has did a great job.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Although I don’t have the books in front of me, just like you don’t have a clue about how much every other manager has been backed, I’m willing to bet the last few years under Rafa has been the most lucrative in the clubs history, hence he deserves to spend more.Originally posted by rage View Postyes poor rafa indeed, the more time passes the more he appears to behave as a spoiled child. - if i can't have this i'm going to tell dad -

You started of like an real moaner then after several people said that they hated your style of posting you calmed down for about a week. Its a real pity you have returned to your normal self as you drag everybody else down with you.Originally posted by Rashid View PostAs the lad said we expected a title challenge back then despite Evans spending net £6m a season at a time when Newcastle were spending £22m on two strikers, we don't expect a title challenge now as poor Rafa doesn't get any money. You just seem to moan about the same things in every thread which then makes every thread the same as the last. No wonder you were banned from your last site as its really started to wear me down. Its a pity cause you do make some good arguments but unfortunately its always the same points.

Not sure of the exact earnings for each year but found these as examples of the increase in a short period. Good enough for a comparison.Originally posted by RedReet View PostAlthough I don’t have the books in front of me, just like you don’t have a clue about how much every other manager has been backed, I’m willing to bet the last few years under Rafa has been the most lucrative in the clubs history, hence he deserves to spend more.
And this is all I found for last season;Earnings of Premier League clubs in 2005/06 (prize money and TV cash but not gate receipts or merchandise income).
Arsenal £52.7m
Chelsea £47.5m
Liverpool £44.2m
Man Utd £39.8m
Tottenham £26.2m
West Ham £24.4m
Middlesbrough £24.3m
Newcastle £24.0m
Bolton £23.7m
Blackburn £23.6m
Wigan £22.9m
Everton £22.4m
Charlton £21.0m
Man City £20.6m
Fulham £20.3m
Aston Villa £19.6m
Birmingham £19.4m
Portsmouth £18.0m
West Brom £16.9m
Sunderland £16.1m
Sir Alex Ferguson's side earned £78million in television cash and prize money over the season, £50million more than bottom side Derby.
The equivalent figure last season, under the previous broadcast deals, was £40million - and it was just £30million in the 2005/06 season when earnings from the Champions League were not so high.
However, in percentage terms the smaller clubs have done better than the bigger ones.
United's income rose 25% compared to last season, while Derby earned £28.2million, a 56.5% increase on the £18million earned by Watford a year ago.

Of course we have. And the next manager will probably spend even more than Rafa and break our transfer record again.Originally posted by rage View Postthats easy b4 rafa our record signing was cisse. since rafa arrived we've clearly spent more money than under any other manager in our history

It’s hardly a great secret that average players are extortionately priced in today’s market, and most quality players are out of our price range. That’s the way it is, it’s hardly Rafa’s fault. Roy Evans probably could have bought Peter Crouch for about £1.5m and Shankly could for three black jacks and a woppa. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
