Hansen had it spot on, he showed acres and acres of space out wide because our two wide players neither had the guile, skill, pace or confidence to take on the full back and neither did our full backs. If Gerrarda and Alonso failed, then it was left to the defenders to hoof it to Torres. It might get you scrappy wins against Boro and Sunderland but it won't get you challenging, no chance. We need to improve the quality of our football, something I have been saying for 10 years since Houllier came to town.

Turn back to 1998, and then to 2004 - and we needed the same thing. Neither Houllier and Rafa have addressed this and it will cost them a league title tilt. Buying ****e like Downing won't change things either.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostWe need a top quality, genuine wide player. That simple.

40 first team signings= Nonsense.Originally posted by Rashid View PostAfter 4 years and 40 odd first team signings, how many players do we need to sign before we start playing "the Rafa way"?
When Rafa had the money to sign a quality player, he did just that. When he didn't have that money or had to use a limited budget on more than one position, he signed decent players who did their job and were sold for profit or face value later when improvement was needed.
Rafa's only poor signing for a relatively large sum was Morientes and I doubt anyone was pissed off with the signing at the time.
As for your question, we need one good player for the left and we're sorted.

Every player on that list was bought for the first team squad, it's a squad game.... and that list clearly shows Rafa's obsession with numbers over quality. We need one player for the left but it doesn't mean we are sorted, we could have signed no players and we would have been sorted if we had a mentallity change and a new philosophy.Originally posted by JohnDoe View Post40 first team signings= Nonsense.

Are you sure you actually support Liverpool? I mean you were hanging around the match thread for most of the game having your little digs, and once we were 1-0 down you started up your Rafa slagging thread. But then the funny thing is as we got back to 1-1 and then 2-1, you seemed to disappear. Surely if you were a real fan you'd be celebrating a cracking last minute win regardless of your feelings?Originally posted by sackparry View PostSpot on.
Not going to win the league with current players. Just showed our total lack of football intelligence when we were looking for a goal. Usless punts to the middle of the penalty area.
I'm not saying this purely because you are negative against Rafa, as I know the other so called negative guys such as Sarb and rage would have been cheering as loud as anyone when Gerrard's winner. You however seemed to make a hasty exit from here as it meant you couldn't really continue with your agenda.
