We have always had a poor record at Boro - Benitez has never won there.

Tongue in cheek comment about Carlton Cole I'm sensing. The key is Parker and Noble. And Ilunga not raising his hands.

    Upton Park.
We are unbeaten against the other top teams and have a point to prove. It seems perverse to go into a game against a side we have already beaten this season with such a defeatist attitude.

I think this sort of history stuff is largely nonsense. Boro have been pathetic this season - we hadn't beaten United in the league under Rafa until this season.

The comment about Cole had a real point. He has been exceptional of late. i think that West Ham need him as their only real striker of note to play well to get anything. Not that I have rated him particularly in general but you have to think some players just take longer to develop than others. He may never be super prolific but he is emerging as the new Heskey.

They have a pretty straightforward run in. They only potential banana skin is Wigan and Fulham away whilst we have United, Boro, Fulham and West Ham as banana skins away from home. I think home will be the problem for us, United's away games are as I said, pretty straightforward but thats without factoring the Champions League games.

So West Ham away is a potential banana skin for us but not for them - haven't we got a better away record than them??

i'd have thought you'd lose some momentum with the resulst and play against chelsea, but apparently not...

United for me have not look convincing in any way shape or form and have had a huge ammount of the the run of the green already this season.

We on the otherhand have been very unlucky sometimes at our own making.

Given the squads, the players at hand and their condidition .. regardless of ties ..I like our chances ... we simple have to win football games regardless of who we play ...

I went away for a month and we dropped off the top ... I'm back and we will be back up there again this month ..charging towards No. 19

There's only a handful of games where you could realistically hope for United to drop points and Sunday is one of them. We obviously have to win at Pompey, but if United beat West Ham, i'll be devestated.

As long as we beat Pompey I'll be happy. At present I see the gap as 5 points. If the Mancs drop points we must be able to capitalise. If we win all our games we will be champions, I can guarantee that. This will not happen, but teams can drop points to the least likely of teams. We just have to keep the pressure on.

Beat Pompey and we go top. The pressure is then on the Mancs, who obviously anticipated us dropping points prior to their game at Upton Park.

Why would the anticipate us dropping points at portsmouth?

If I was a manc player after the Everton win I would have thought it likely that LFC would drop points prior to the West Ham game. I of course include a difficult home tie with Chelsea and also the normally tricky away tie at Pompey.

Portsmouth may not be in the best form at present, but they will see that game as a chance to kick strat their season. No easy games etc.....
