I see supporting us as far more than looking to win titles. Sure, we all want that, but I think using Mourinho is a step too far.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostNo one man is bigger than the club though and for what it's worth, it wouldnt break my heart to see him win us the title.
I'd rather support an unsuccessful Liverpool than a successful Chelsea 2.

Put another way, Portsmouth finished 30 points off the top of the table last season. Considering the amounts they have been spending, if they had Mourinho or Rijkaard as manager, when would it be realistic to expect them to mount a title challenge.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostBut we're still not comparing like for like.
Let's see him do it in the PL with a team that's 30 points off the pace, barely given the money to keep up with the big boys and a **** exec meaning he hardly ever get's his transfer targets."The definition of insanity is not running into the same wall again and again; it's expecting a different result every time you do it."

m a n c h e s t e r u n i t e dOriginally posted by Rashid View PostHow long does it take Fabio Capello to win league titles wherever he goes? We have historically been soft at board level under Moores - there is not a chance in hell any big club (apart from us) would allow 5 years each to pass on successive managers to mount a title challenge.

That was 25 years ago. Not today. And it was a one off not the norm. Do you think Fergie's replacement will get 5 years to challenge?
As for the "poor skint Rafa" arguments do you guys not read the posts on here? He is the league's 2nd biggest spender in his 4 years and the biggest these past 2 years. Wake up and open your eyes.

you make some good points mate but tbh as has been said there is a clear divideOriginally posted by Rashid View PostThat was 25 years ago. Not today. And it was a one off not the norm. Do you think Fergie's replacement will get 5 years to challenge?

those who can see no wrong in rafa and those who can.
it doesnt mean just because he badly ****s things up that everyone wants him out
i find it a bit pathetic how some say oh but he is a top manager and knows more than us - thats bollocks he makes mistakes like anyone dont bury your heads
i must admit to becoming a bit disillusioned at the moment but i will support
the club like i always have and will
and there are definate similarities with the things rafa says to that of the final days of GH
i ve said it before wait until rafa starts talking about how many corners we,ve had
anyway lets **** the scum and talk about that some more

If he ever became manager of Liverpool Football Club I would stop supporting the club. I am desperate for us to win the league but not at all costs and Mourinho IMO goes against everything Liverpool stand for. What he said when Cech's head got caved in about the Reading ambulance service was so disgusting it was untrue.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHave to say, i wouldnt say no to Mourinho if or when Rafa goes. I dislike some things about him, but i just cant imagine him failing.
How many other managers such as Rijkaard and Keegan (sorry Sarb mate but
) would have stuck around with Pinky and Perky at the helm? Answer is not ****ing many. We are a shambles behind the scenes and stability is what we need.
I couldn't give a flying **** what Scum, Chav or Arsenal fans think - honestly who really gives a ****?**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

Have you updated that since Berbatov signed? In other words can you provide the list of ins/outs incl prices. Just sick of hearing you bleat it out endlessly.Originally posted by Rashid View PostThat was 25 years ago. Not today. And it was a one off not the norm. probably not no. but its not like rafa inherited a squad like fergies is it. thats the crucial difference.Originally posted by Rashid View PostThat was 25 years ago. Not today. And it was a one off not the norm. Do you think Fergie's replacement will get 5 years to challenge?

if fergie leaves his successor a squad like GH left then i expect the incoming manager to say he needs loads of money or more time.
'this squad is terrible and it needs gutting. my plan is to build up the youth so we can get some bargains like arsene as well as first team squads but this is all going to take time to come to fruition depending on the level of money available for me to gut it. more money, the quicker i can act. i will do it.
it in in the meantime, with a minimum of 4th place in the league, runs in the champions league is our best bet of earning money and enhancing the clubs profile as its a knock out and on our day, with the first teamers fit, we can beat anyone. as we know, its the strength-in-depth of the squad that really counts for the premier league so unless we can spend chelsea like sums to revamp the 15 or so players at once as well as paying for top youth then unfortunately that will come later. we will get progressively closer but to win it, will not be an instant fix, we might have a great season with injuries and form whilst our rivals stutter but realistically, we can't count on that.
measure my progress each year but look for a real jump forward after x (3)years. This is about revamping the whole club not just the first team'
this is lfc's story and why, even now, the 5 year plan is not dead. if you're a club that needs upgrading and you want the whole club to be upgraded and not just do a blackburnm, then you have to give the manager **** loads of money. if you can't do that, you have to give him more time as long as he's making progress.
don't forget that our league has gone from being 2nd behind spain to massively the best league in europe during his tenure. so the goalposts are shifting and again, it boils down to money doesnt it.
