imo it was more to do with the influence gary mac had than anything else. he scored, he created.

What went wrong was that we replaced decent players with crap ones, and some of the decent ones we had (Heskey, Henchoz to a degree) were shot to bits. Its fairly simple really!

yea our failure to compete post 2001 had very little to do with money but everything to do with the manager and the players he brought in.

I fairness to rage he is not a pathetic poster. I might disagree with (a lot) of what he says in regards to Rafa but he debates his points of view and sticks to his guns which is admirable. A lot of people gave you the benefit of the doubt lad so your in no position to throw ****.

04 had a decent first 11 but sh1te squad, but even the first 11 were playing shyte and out of form. nothing inconsistent with gerrard's statement there. basically they were bad.

rafa sorted out tactics for a cup competition, and off we went. we were still as sh1te in the league and the squad depth was still sh1t.

but rafa made the most of what he had and we had a great end to the season.

but as a squad, 01/02 was better and they played better football too. today however is the best squad.
