    I do, very much so.

I know I am very much in the minority, but I gave 22 years for country etc etc and Im still very proud to be English and proud to be born and bred in Liverpool.

Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

No i was deadly serious, i think playing for the national team is a distraction we can do without as far as gerrard is concerned. instead of building a team around the best attacking english midfielder in living memory we are having to see gerrard having to play second fiddle to fat frank.

i seriously do wish he'd announce his retirement although as elvoz says it won't happen. England will never win anything because no english manager has the balls to drop the glory hunter superstars. anyone of us could pick a starting 11 full of superstars BUT as similar to the national team it'll lack balance. dropping gerrard is easy because you won't read about his anguish in the sunday papers the way you would with fat frank.

I also think retiring from international teams extends a players domestic career, and its not like gerrard has anything to prove by playing for england.

I'm proud to be English, and altho i cannot watch the England team these days cos i take no enjoyment out of it...i think Eriksson and McLaren ruined it for me...i still want them to do well, and want the best for them, and that involves Gerrard in my opinion.

I actually rate Lampard but the wing play of England is nowhere near good enough to accommodate both him and Gerrard imo.

Valid points you make, but I still have a huge part of me that wants the best for England. I feel that if a club has International standard players they have to take the hit for the respective countries, how would the Irish members of the forum feel if Roy Keane in his prime had rejected his country to play solely for the Mancs?

At the end of the day we looked a good team in croatia and a bloody awful one on saturday despite the score.

If it was my job on the line I would revert back to the Croatia formation no question.

Tough on Stevie, but that's the current situation.

That was down to the stupid gutter press building up the game saying England should score a cricket score and the dopy players believed it. We have to remember against Croatia England were focused, away from home and had a siege mentality, under those conditions teams always play better, against Kazikstan (sp) it was a "turn up and win " attitude.

The Kaz players were playing for contracts in our first division or possibly trials with EPL clubs so they played out of their skin.

Plus a totally different formation was played so it is unfair to blame Stevie for such a ****e team performance, they all played rubbish.

Fair enough, and that is of course your prerogative , but as much as I love my country I'd probably sell it down the river for #19

I would be if it was Torres who has been deopped.

I'd love it if he did a Kris Boyd on it and told the FA he'll not play for England again under Capello. Stevie is not that small minded but that would be my ideal scenario

I didn't watch the game, where we good before the sending off or after the sending off, or good all around.
