It doesn't have to be a resounding win but a smash and grab win against the teams in the top 4 will suffice.
You're not being negative. If we hadn't beaten Utd at home I'd have been of the same mindset as you.

We have struggled away at these stadiums for a long time now, too long. I think our win over Utd will breed confidence and the boys will go into the Chelsea game with a **** load of belief. I can't stress how important the win against Utd was, it was a massive mental barrier that we've finally managed to break.

IMO it's still Utd that we should be worrying about and not Chelsea. Chelsea are a great team and are playing some lovely football but we will take points off them next weekend I'm confident of that. Utd will soon be up near the top. We've just got to keep the cunts behind us that's what's going to be the acid test.

If we want to win the league then the time is now, we won't have a better opportunity for a long time.

You had a serious reply to a serious post, I just did the same to a different type of post, don't know exactly why, maybe I'm too tired I guess and know that I have to be at work in 6 hours, 12 hour day, means I will not get to see the match live tomorrow, why the hell am I rambling on about this now?

We will have to see obviously. United have to go to Japan for that useless money spinning tournament in December so hopefully we might have racked up a bigger lead (on the presumption that all things remain the same) One thing is for sure, if we can wrap up the Champions League group early, we can fully focus on the league until the knockout stages in February. We know the team rack up a lot of points in the second half of the season so its vital that we stay in touching distance to the top throughout this period and beating our closest rivals along the way would help achieve our goal.

I just get the sense that we're on to something this year, Utd dissapearing to Japan could really help us out.

If we beat Chelsea then that will be some start to the season. I already think we're through in the CL. I've got a feeling we won't progress much further after that though, don't know why but I just don't think we will.

We are strong finishers in the league that's for sure. If we can keep winning up until January, even taking the odd loss here and then then we'll be there at the end of the season.

I think that Rafa's finally had enough of this **** as have the players, they're sick of finshing 3rd and 4th and they know it, and they know that we know it. The team have a different mentality this year to any Liverpool team I've seen before.

There is a real sign of strength, unity and confidence. All the hallmarks of a league winning team. I've said this before more in hope than belief but I fully believe now that we'll win the league. I don't care how we win, if we crush teams then so be it, I'm happy just taking a one nil win or just sneaking a win 2-1. We very rarely concede, and if when we do we come right back and win.

might not be fortress related but Sky SPorts News just said that Liverpool have limited opponents to just 15 shots on target all season thus far ...home AND away

                best in the premiership

that's a pretty good ****ing stat we have there

I'd say that Anfield is a fortress as it is now. We can't match Chelsea's record at the bridge, but teams know Anfield is a difficult place to visit. If you only consider it a fortress after years of not being beaten, you're raising the bar too high IMO.

And we have let in 6 goals. So Reina has only saved 9 shots?

It is, and some of the goals that we have conceded from those shots were 'wonder' goals that no keeper would have saved anyhow, so it's even a better stat looking at it that way.

I don`t think the other teams see Anfield as a fortress.
Stoke and (almost) Wigan have shown that it is possible to get points at Anfield. It`s no doubt regarded as a though, backs-to-the wall type of game, but other teams will look at Wigans approach and think that it`s possible to attack. Teams got to Stamford and "expect" a loss, but I think they go to Anfield thinking of points.
So we`re not there yet, but as long as we build on the current record I`m happy.

But then again Stamford Bridge IS regarded as a fortress, and Spurs managed to get a point there this year (one of their two points).

While the comebacks have been great and show a grit and determination that i dont think has been there in previous seasons, i think the time to tell if we're truly contenders or not will be when (hopefully if) we lose our first game.
Last season we were ticking along nicely until the Reading away debacle and it all seemed to de-rail a bit for me.
Champions will lose a game and bounce straight back to go on another 5 game winning run so it'll be interesting to see how we cope with that.

in my book 0:0 against stoke at home can be regarded as a loss, and we bounced back with wins over crewe, everton, psv, city and wigan
